Radio lock out help!! Anyone???

Today i got my springs and shocks install at a local shop here that has good feedback. But after i got the car back my radio, CD, XM stopped working. Nav on the otherhand is still operational. I looked in the 3G garage, tried searching but i came upon people with the same question w/ no answers.

I get the "code" next to the clock. I did the presets 1 and 6 w/power way that i read somewhere. I also looked in the manuals and they say that a code input screen should appear after startup. But no luck this far. The acura customer service is closed as we speak.

So i thought i get some help with you acura enthusiast.

Oh by the way the comptech/ tokico shocks on the car is really nice. I love the car more after the drop. Will post pics later.

thanks in advance,
Dat

The code should be in the manual either on the front or the back. Look for the sticker or check the actual glove box all around its been known to be stuck in their.

If no dice 2 options:

1. go to dealer pay near $100 and they will pull the radio and get the serial and get the code.
2. pull the radio yourself and call the dealer with the serial and they will give the code. Better be free also.

If your the original owner or not. You should have been given a manual and inside are the Radio/Navi codes. Theyre printed on a business card size paper. The navi code you put on the actual screen but the radio codes you select on the 1-6 buttons. Theyre the buttons you use to browse through your favorite radio stations. If you dont have those then you have no choice but to take it to a dealer and have them pull your navi out to access your vehicles codes. Hope this helps GL

Also, I dont get why that shop disconnected your battery in order to install your suspension? Thats the only reason your car would request the navi/radio codes, is if the system was reset.

Open your gloves box.. look on outter left side.. they are usually there.. or check your fuse area...

You can get the serial number from the radio without pulling it out.. just enter the diagnostic menu and it will be displayed on the screen. Do a search.

My thoughts exactly, i was curious myself why would they do that just to install some springs. But....I have that radio/nav code like you mention but the thing is i dont have the screen to input those codes.

Dude.. when you power the radio on.. you must input the code using numbers 1 thru 6.
.... 5 numbers I believe, I dont remember.. they will NOT be displayed... you will hear a beep though. Watch the small display above the radio.. where A/C info shows...

Most shops will disconnect the battery to ensure the air bags aren't deployed during the repair. I have an adapter that hooks into the OBDII plug and keeps power to the various accessories, but not the air bag system. This way the settings are maintained, and no fear of air bag deployment.
Radio is 5
Nav is 4

Another thing is that i dont think the battery was disconnected. I checked that and it looks as if no one tampered with the bolts to take it out... I am tripping out. But thanks to all for the helps. Car is boring when no music is bumping!!!

The Nav code is the 4 digit code, but the Radio code is 5 digit code. It goes C-0-D-E and the fifth one will activate the radio.

Is the car registered with your name and address? If so, try https://radio-navicode.acura.com/

Oh yeah also, both the navi code and radio code should be on the sticker if you were able to locate that. LIke said, check the side of the glove compartment, or evenpull the glove compartment down, it might be behind it

This is getting irritating, Daniel I tried it the way you explain but after i enter the 4th number it beeps and it says err (at 8 now). Then it goes back to "C". It doesnt let me enter the 5th number.

Plus i bought this car brand new. I have all the codes etc!!!

might be the wrong code... that happened to me when i first got my car... right serial number wrong code.... go to the dealer and let them know that u tried the code that was given to u & its not working... they should do it for free or if u have the serial number for ur radio handy call them and they should give u the correct code & it is 5 numbers

Disconnect battery and enter code again, radio is five digit and Navi is four digits
You should have received these codes on a business card size card

Def. Seems like you got the wrong code then... Just call up the dealership, they should be able to pull it from their records, or help you

When you turn the car on, did you push the power button on your radio dial? Once you do that it'll prompt you to enter the radio code. Enter the radio code with the buttons 1-6 on your radio.

i had the same problem i lost my radio code....

wat u gotta do is take out ur radio fuse or back up fuse for about 1 minute.... i forgot which one it was exactly but they both in the fuse box under the steering wheel. then turn ur car on the screen will say code, thats when u push the 1 and 6 and power on, this will then give u the serial number...which u then call up acura and they tell you over the phone.

but i dont have navi.....so ur might be different.

Alright guys here is an update. Called up acura customer care, and they walked me through the process. They told me to hold down 1 and 6 presets, and power on. Enter code to the radio which is 5 numbers, and 4 for the Navi. To reset the error code you have to pull out the backup fuse in the fuse box for one minute. Then I also did the disconnect the battery process. But for now everything is back to normal.

I also had to buy a new battery, under warranty of course and everything is good.

Thanks everyone for their help and walkthroughs. I am glad i am on Acurazine. But i got some pics of the car and the dropp so i will have those up sometime this weekend.

I also found the navi code in my manuals. But they also told me that if i didnt have the code i would have to go to the dealership and spend 85 just to pull out the radio and look for a fricking code.

I have a 2005 Acura, TL with 75k miles About 2/3 months ago, my navigation/radio started acting wacky. It kept requiring me to enter my security code. Once I did, it would say it's updating (but never really did), and eventually it would bring me to the normal interface allowing me to use all the normal features. Everything worked fine except when I used the navigation, the voice came through distorted.

Just recently, I disconnected the battery. After I did this, I was completely locked out of my radio. I have noticed the anti theft light keeps flashing. Once I enter my code, the only thing I could use is my navigation. Now, my navigation works perfectly with no distored voice but I am completely locked out of stereo. No music = no fun!

Anybody have any ideas?

What's going on here?

Radio and Navi code are separate as mentioned earlier in the thread. From what you said, it just sound like you've unlocked the Navi, but you'll need to also enter your radio code as well. It should just be a 5 digit number that you can find on the outside of left side of your glove compartment when you open it. (The Navi code is 4 digits)

No idea on the distorted voice.

There was a YouTube video on that something like if you push 1 and 6 then the power button then 3 or 4 it's supposed to temporary unblock the radio

1) How old is your battery? If it's older than 4 years or drained, then it may be ready to go (which is why the Navi/audio went out).

2) If the battery is newer, check the battery cables. The negative clamp often loosens, as does the other ground end. The positive clamp tends to corrode.

3) The Navi and audio passwords were on a plastic business card that came with the car's paperwork. Check the leatherette manual holder's slots for it. Also check the spare tire compartment tray for the card, and the owner's manual to see if the passwords were written in.
Otherwise, techs sometimes put the passwords on a sticker in the glovebox area or on the underhood fuse box.

Welcome to AZ & G/L.

That's supposed to get the radio's serial number, which is necessary to give to the dealer along with the VIN so it can pull up the radio code.

Thanks for all of the help. I am the second owner of this car, in the two years of owning it, I have never replaced the battery. All connections seem tight and secure, but I will look this over again.

I have the plastic card which shows both the nav & radio codes. When I start the car, i can enter only the 4 digit nav code. It doesn't let me enter any numbers beyond the 4 count. I have tried entering the other code, but it's too long.

Where can I enter the radio code?

jonmizu, found that youtube video you referrenced. Here it is for anyone else:

Use the radio preset buttons-- not the Navi buttons.
