Tried to search for an answer to my problem but couldn't find anything.
As the title says, the radio lights are blown out on my 08 TL Type-S. All of the other lights in the car are functioning except for the ones on the radio. At first the lights were very dim, but then they eventually stopped working. The radio itself is still functional.
Anyone experience this before? Could it be a fuse, or a problem with the radio itself. Thanks in advance for any help that could be provided.
Ok so I checked the fuses and they are all good. Anyone else have a clue on what may be causing the radio lights to go out?
Thanks!
Short of dismantling everything and probing the lighting circuit with a multimeter, I'm out of ideas. It might very well be the radio itself, but just the fact it dimmed and then went out gives me hope that it's probably not all the lights that are burned out but something else.
Edit: Didn't know you were a Montrealer. We're very few here!
Yeah so uh sorry in advance for the 3-year thread bump, but this issue is still driving me nuts. I couldn't find anyone to fix the radio so far, so I thought about buying a used one off ebay, but the Acura dealer told me that if your car is Canadian specs like mine, the radio from a USA spec Type-S won't work. Does anyone know if this is true or if the dealer is trying to pull a fast one on me? I asked the cost of a new radio and was quoted an eye-watering $3200 CAD + tax. Uh...no thanks. So should I just learn to live with the burnt lights, try to find a replacement radio with Canadian specs, continue the search to have my existing radio repaired or drive my car off a cliff and buy a new one lol. Other suggestions are welcome of course. If anyone else has had the same issue and discovered a fix, please share. Thanks!

Just pulled my car out of storage after returning from an overseas assignment for work, and just wondering if anyone has come up with a solution for this issue.
In addition to the radio lights, I have some other dash lights that have burned out. See below:
For some reason radio has separate circuit for the lights - it's get the signal like any other dash bulb in the car, interprets it, and then uses some internal circuit to drive the bulbs in the front. (probably because of those blue lights around volume/seek knobs)
If you feel like opening the radio, you could bypass that circuit and drive the lights directly from the wires going to any other buttons. It's about as complicated as replacing bulbs in the radio panel with LEDs (which you might want to do while you there).
If not then replace the radio. Get used one off ebay from type-s (or button backlight will be yellowish instead of red) and throw it in there.
When replacing radio, you can address burned out bulbs in climate control buttons as they will need to come off as well.
Unfortunately no other way than taking the dash apart. No bulb-a-fix you can add to the gas tank.
Ok so I bought and installed a used unit (nav and radio) and now I have a new problem - the radio lights stay on.
The car is completely shut off but the radio lights stay on, and the radio unit is warm to the touch (probably from the lights staying on).
Anyone else encounter this issue, and have a fix for this? Not sure what else I can do, short of pulling a fuse or unplugging the battery.
I also need to replace the bulbs surrounding the navigation system. Anyone know the part number for these bulbs? I'd like to see if I can order these online before driving to the dealership to order them.
Need to do some testing to be 100% sure, but most likely radio is bad. It has separate driving circuit for the button lights than rest of the car and sometimes it goes bad. Replacing transistor or mosfet would probably fix it, but you would need to open the radio and find the broken part first.

Or maybe just drive the car off a cliff lol. Thanks for the info. I don't have enough knowledge in this field to open up a radio, so I may just have to look for a new unit, or send it out for repair.
If anyone has any other tips on how to resolve this, or knows of a shop where I can send the radio for repair, please share. Thanks!
If you just bought it, try returning the radio or if that was some junkyard, ask for another one. There are couple threads about it on the forum but I wouldn't say it's common. Seems like I missed my post in this thread and repeated everything.
