Problems with brakes.

Guys, we just changed the brake pads on my Type S and bled the lines but we are not getting any brakes back. They are not catching-the pedal goes all the way to the floor. The pedal is sinking all the way down.

We painted the calipers. All were put back on and brake lines were reattached. Made sure master cylinder was always full. When the car is turned on or if I am driving and if I keep pumping the brakes, I am able to get a firm pedal feel.

Any ideas as to why?

99% chance it's air in the line. 1% chance you damaged the master if you pushed the pedal too far when bleeding.

I'm not familiar with the Brembos but I assume they have a bleeder on each side. I always start with the inside bleeder and then go to the outside bleeder.

What method did you use to bleed them, was there a washer between the brake hose and caliper, do you get solid fluid out of the bleeder, did you let fluid drip out of the hardline (car side) while you had the calipers disconnected?

Can you brake hard enough to get the ABS to kick in?

honda manual dictates otherwise. Outside, then inside bleeder.

I hate cars-you are the man!

swoosh and I did not know there was an inside bleeder. We re-bled the inside and outside bleeders again. Good as gold-thanks to everyone!

Glad you got the system back to normal, but the 3G Garage is your friend:

Wow OP! Both of you guys missed the Garage DIY and this somewhat epic thread?

If you didn't redo the ABS engagement step after the rebleed, I'd go back and do it.

Wouldn't be worried about brake pedal travel causing any damage.

I blame Aneil.

Next time, consult Majofo.

You don't even need to take off the tire, the (I believe 10mm nut) is on the top of the caliper. Taking brake lines out will never get all air out, this way (someone pumps brakes and makes sure cylinder is full at all time) pushes all fluid out.
