Front bumper crack, got fixed and painted (pics)

So i got into a lil fender bender a few weeks ago and did some research and got some qoutes and ended up going with repair fix instead if a whole new bumper. I found a guy locally who came to my house and repaired and painted my bumper im 2hrs in my garage. I took the bumper off before he got here to save him some time. I was skeptical at first but he promised me i would be happy with the results.

He plastic welded both sides of the crack back together then used fiberglass on the back of the bumper to strengthen the weld then he puttied and sanded and smoothed the outside and prepped for paint. I didnt get pictures of the process unfortunately cuz i was busy working on the car while he did the repair ao i only have before and after. I tried to rivet the either side of the crack so that it wouldnt get worse but didnt hold so i had to get on it right away, professionally.

I also broke some of the clips the hold the bumper in place

And also broke offthe tab on the bracket that the bumper clips on to

I fixed that by drilling a small pilot hole through the bracket feom underneath and used a self tapping screw to attach and secure the bracket back on. As for the broken clips i cut small pieces of galvanized sheet metal and folded them and pushed them on over the broken bumper clips and squished them on as hard as i could.

And obviously it did the trick. Everything is back
To normal and it is hard to even find where the damge happened. I am very pleased with the results. Oh and by the way the guy charged me $220 for the bumper repair! I tjought it was a great deal, cheaper than a new bumper for sure.

Wow looks great. I actually have a couple of broken tabs too that I want to fix. Believe it or not I was thinking about doing the same thing, how thick is that steel and where did you get it Home Depot? Also I see that you covered the whole tabs, how does it attach to the clip?

im not sure about what gauge the steel is but i will find out as soon as my neighbour gets home, he gave me the sheet, he had it laying around in his garage. it feels really solid, seeing that the overall thickness of the bumper clip has increased there is a lot more pressure there and im hoping that it is enough to hold it in place for a while. i will post up my results after a week of daily driving and hopefully its good news. my drive to and from work is a pretty rigorous road test so if it holds up for a week then i should be fine for quite some time.

i will let you know about the thickness of steel when he gets home.

thanks for looking guys and i hope this might help out a brotha in need.

Wow, great repair job!
Did he use a spray can to paint?
Or did you use a spray gun with a compressor?

Mind sending me his contact info?

Thanks!

I have some rust spots that I'm going to prep and repair myself.
I just need a painter that knows what he's doing with the spray gun.

I have the have crack as you from hit and run. I took to the bodyshop and they recommended to buy a new bumper and paint it up that way instead fixing up the cracked bumper, that way you will save more $$$. Its will cost me around $600 to fix it.

The crack been like that in my car for almost 1.5 year. Nobody notice the crack because my car is nbp but it always bothering me. Summer is coming I think its perfect time for me to get it fixed. I wish get it fixed like your man... the cheaper way.
