Before I fall into any mechanical rabbit holes I wanted to run this by ya'll. Familiar problem? Worth fixing?

It's the first auto I've had since my first car and it feels weird. But if it insists, I'll allow it.

 

So what is the problem? You have auto transmission, you put it in "manual" mode, and when you move lever to downshift car does nothing?

Do you have paddle shifters? Try using them or lever. Upshifting works? Car downshifts fine when in "auto" mode? What car exactly do you have?

So many questions, so let's at least end this sentence with a period.
