Passenger Side mirror acting up

So I just noticed that on my 05 TL that when I have the mirror switch on R and put the car in reverse that when my mirror goes to tilt down it will only move a little bit and then it will stay in the same position and start clicking. Then when it put it back in park and it starts movie agin it will go in the wrong direction and go all the way until it can go anymore and then it will continue to try and move in the direction and will sit there and click until i hit the mirror button. It does the same thing when I push Memory buttons. Now I can move the mirrors in all directions with the button. Any ideas on how to fix this without going to the stealership?

Dealership will fix under a recall/ warranty. I had both mirrors go out and they fixed it for free

It's the actuators. And I'm not sure they will fix a recall on an 05 for free.

Link to said recall?

it's not a recall, it's a service bulletin. Bad actuators are correct!

The problem is, the actuators keep going out. Have the dealership take care of it. Then, if they go out again, they should fix it for free again, because it's been noted on your record as an ongoing problem.

Wow cool. I'll have to try the U->D->L->R thing at lunch.

Can the mirrors be taken apart, on the car? I mean, can you remove the actual mirror from the housing? Then clean it up, regrease, and be on your way?

I'd almost think the mirror part just snaps in...

The method above didn't work for me. There was a diy to fix it, it's easy and mine has been fine for over half a year now. Tilt the mirror all the way up, then use your fingers or a flat head and pry it out, careful not to break it, then you'll see a pivot joint where the mirror moves, it's held on by a screw in the middle, remove that and the spring, clean the area of the old grease and reapply generously and reassemble!
