Passenger side axle boot leaking..

Hey guys,

So, I took my car to a place called First Class Automotive in Orlando to go get an oil change. (I got a coupon in the mail) I know of this place because all my s2k and nsx buddies go there to get there cars fixed. When the car was on the lift they noticed that my passenger side axle boot was leaking. SO instead of buying a new axle (because the axle is not clicking or anything) they quoted me the price to change the axle boot. They didnt have the part in stock so I am going on Tuesday to go get it fixed. How much do you think they should charge for labor? the part cost around 50.00.

They quoted me 160.00 for labor. So total with tax was around 230.00.. Does that sound right to change an axle boot? They plan on changing my tranny fluid and my brake fluid also for extra.. the owner said he would give a good discount if I do everything at once. I purchase this car with 70k on it. Now there is about 87k on it.

Thanks!
Rj

did you speak to nabil there? He is one of the best guys there! Price out the parts @ acuraoemparts.com and see if it's just cheaper to get a new axle installed so you can avoid future issues, and as well it may be cheaper.

Brake fluid and tranny changes; how much are they going to be?

Ok so I found the parts on acuraoemparts.com here: http://www.acuraoemparts.com/delray/...All&vinsrch=no

Yah I talked to Nabil. He kinda knows me because I have been there a bunch of times with some of my friends. I just checked and the boot he got for 46.00 costs 21.34 (Part # 44018-S0K-C21) on acuraoemparts.com without shipping ( I am not sure if he needed any other parts though to change it). The whole axle costs: 232.65 (Part #44305-SDB-A00). Unfortunately, with labor it will cost me more than 400.00 with labor and tax. If he just fixes the boot, it will cost me waay less.

I am not sure how much he will be charging to do the tranny and brake flushes because he said he would give me a deal if I do it all at once. He usually charges 60.00 for the brake flush and 89.99 for the tranny flush. Which sound about right to me. He quoted me 400.00 at first to do everything, then I told him my situation. (How I just went to Asia for a month and just bought my gf an engagement ring. And am basically broke right now haha) So, he said he would think about it and let me know how much for everything when I get back on Tuesday.

How much does Nabil charge for an alignment? I might need some work done, and if we go on the same day maybe you can get some sorta discount. Can you ask him if you can get that discount?

Yah I can ask him. I wont be able to ask him until Tuesday morning though because I believe they are closed tomorrow and I might not have time to call them Monday. (I am busy at work on Monday). He doesnt charge anything to check alignment.. But last time I went I gave him my tax id info for my side business and he gave me the alignment for 75.00 no tax. Before I gave him my tax id it was 75.00 + tax.

What else do you need done besides the alignment? and can you come on Tuesday?

Takes longer to repalce the boot than replace an axle assembly, but the CV boot is considerably less as you found out. The outer CV joints are pretty stout, so if no noise, replace the boot and they'll last as long as the car.

Just replaced the outer boots on my daughter's Maxima,$26 total for 2 boot kits with CV grease. 4 clamps and 2 snap rings from NAPA. I gave her a break, free labor, but the job was a bear on the passenger side as the bearing was frozen in the support bracket, but at 165,000 what can one expect..

I just got my driver axle changed. brand new replacment for 50 dollars 60 shipped. rockauto.com.

I got the boot for free...but when I saw a brand new aftermarket axle for 50, I decided to replace the whole thing. labor was less...I paid 130 for axle replacemen, endlinks replacement and crank pully.

Probably not.. best way to check is to get the oem part number and compared them.

to change the boot the axle has to be removed ur better off going with a new axle. IMO. u save a headache of noises n stuff that can occur from dirt having gotten in there

well I just got back from picking up my car. Just had the boot changed. No noises!! Woohoo.. I mean there was no noises befor, but now there are definitely no noises. Also, had my brake and clutch fluid flushed. Car feels so smooth now. Now I am going to try and find time to Seafoam the car!

First Class Automotive is FIRST CLASS!! The owner gave me a good discount for doing everything at once. Right now they are having a special. 21.95 for oil change. and 10% off any quote you get from the Acura dealership. Tell Nabil (the owner) you are from Acurazine! Ill post pics of his shop in a second. They had 5 NSXs there and 3 s2000s. And a bunch of other cars there as well. Really nice place!

Here are some pics of their shop. They have 6 bays. Nabil the owner personally owns an NSX that he just supercharged this past weekend. I wanted to get a ride so bad, but felt bad asking haha..

Anyways, I really suck at taking pics..

My car waiting to get serviced.

Is that an NSX-Turbo Certificate?!

The white NSX matches my car! Mesh Wheels, its white and has a black roof!! haha

There are 3 NSXs in this pic and 1 s2000.

The Black NSX is Nabil's (the owners)

Gf's car getting her tires balanced and rotated.

A Golf and TT that got serviced there.
