Outside Temperature gauge

TL 08 Type S. the outside temp gauge displays "---" for 5-10 minutes every time I start the car, then the temp gauge works fine till the next start,

Is there a sensor or a relay that i can replace to fix it.

thanks

go to the 3G garage. (stickied on the front page of the 3G forums). find the link to the TSBs, follow the directions exactly to access them. look through the list, there is one referring to the temp gauge (--). take a peek at it to find out what is causing it and how to fix it if it pertains to your car.

i looked at the TSB...apparently it only applies to early 2005's with navi.

https://acurazine.com/forums/3g-tl-2004-2008-93/3g-tl-technical-service-bulletins-tsbs-3g-garage-j-016-a-613659/

follow instructions on the link. leave all the new windows that open. go back to original page with the list of TSB's, then read away.

might be the same thing, just may not affect the later ones as much. or it's a completely different thing. sorry....not sure if i'm much help...but at least you'll know how to access the TSBs (i hope).

The sensor is right under the front bumper support frame. If you stick you hand on the right side under the front grille you can feel it. It's held on by a clip. I beleive the part isn't that expensive.

It should pop up when you start the car.

A temp number will appear when the car is started, but it may not be the correct temp, per the owner's manual.

The sensor takes 3-5 minutes to adjust and read the proper outside ambient temp.

Are you still getting "---" before the numbers show up?
If so, it should be repaired under warranty.

If the car is not under warranty, I'd probably leave it alone since the proper temp shows up after the proper time.

Bummer.
The 2005 TSB indicated replacement of the "Gauge Control Module" was necessary after disassembling the instrument panel, so I wouldn't mess with it if the temp is correct after a few minutes of blank reading.

I was able to reset mine by pulling the #7 fuse under the driver side foot panel area.
