Angry Noise coming from around timing belt...

SOMETIMES THERE IS THIS CLINKING NOISE, METALLIC SOUND. IT'S ALMOST LIKE A RATTLE COMING FROM AROUND THE TIMING BELT UPER AREA, ITS LIKE A VERY LOUD VALVES BUT NOT COMING FROM THE ENGINE!!
THIS NOISE HAPPENS ONLY WHEN THE HEATER IS ON, IF I TURN IT OFF THE NOISE DISSAPEAR!!
IF ANY EXPERIENCE THE SAME NOISE IN RELATIONSHIP TO THE HEATER/AC PLEASE POST OR ANY FIXES THAT I SHOULD BE AWARE BEFORE TAKING IT IN TO THOSE IDIOTS FROM ACURA SERVICE (ALWAYS A BAD EXPERIENCE, I'M MOVING FROM ONE TO ANOTHER)!!

coulda sworn there was a timing belt. but it may be your heat shield rattling around.

Thats why I asked lol. There is absolutely a timing belt. The shield noise is usually present under acceleration. Is it like one click at a time? Could be your compressor cycling on and off. Try manually shutting off the a/c but leave the heater on and see if that changes anything.

these a service bullitin on this. the tentionor pulley in the timing belt and block are mechined wrong. the t-belt and pulley will be replaced as long it is under warranty. if you are out of warranty you can ask for good will.

i had the same problem, but only when the A/C was on (i guess the compressor engages when the heater is on also) anyways, the extra load from the a/c compressor caused the belt tensioner to virate causing a very noticable ratling/grinding noise. Took it to acura, at first it labor was not covered under warantee, but the part was. Since this was on a saturday, they could not call the warrantee people to find out what was up so they told me they would call on monday to get it figured out, and if it was covered they would re-imburse me, thankfully it was and i got back my $300.

I would check the ac belt tensioner pulley- its located up top and will sound like engine valves are bad
Use a mechanics stethascope $5, and test the alternator-ps pump- ac pulley - anything you can reach and listen- mine went noisy at 45k miles and failed at 80k miles...gen2

When you turn the heater on- set to defrost- that kicks on the AC- adding load to its belt and making noise worse
