I have never had to put axles on any of my hondas and I was just under my car 3 weeks ago and at 90K miles mine were still looking good.

I had put a set on a '89 sable I had from napa and those things never gave me a problem my '94 accord has well over 200K on the original ones except for driver side outer CV joint that was replaced at 135K.

If you have not checked, the following intems can cause vibrations

1. Tire problems
2. lower ball joints
3. Bent rims

So I decided to go with the GSP axles and had them installed this morning.

The shimmy in the steering wheel is now gone!!!

One thing though, I went over a slight dip in the road and heard a loud clang from the front suspension. Started the hell out of me!

I got scared and so I decided to try to reproduce it over some rough road and didn't hear even a peep out of the front end. I'm thinking, the sound was jus the suspension parts settling in from being taken apart?

I will try more driving tonight at higher speeds on the highway to see if everything is still good.

I, too, had gotten mine replaced with the GSP axle this weekend. However, mine was MT and the serial number was the same as the AT. So far so good. No more clicking noise!

I had to replace drivers side axle. I was on road trip when this happened. 1000 miles away from home. Man it was such an experience. But when buying axles, the guy at shop told me AT and MT are same axles, for drivers side at least. So i put it in and it worked fit.

Is it me, or is it common for 6spd to have axles failure.

Im in the process of looking for a passenger side axle for my 04 6mt and from what i have learned, the left side axle is the same for the at and mt but the passenger side is different and apparently hard to find brand new from local parts dealers....

If you know of a place that rebuilds cv axles, you can get a really good deal out of it. It's usually $60 for a rebuilt and it's good as new.

Not sure what your talking about. I got mine as you saw in the first page for under 200 shipped to my door brand new. Plenty of parts out there for ya. Just need the credit card charged up.

Well I guess you didnt read my post correctly cuz I was confirming what someone else had mentioned about the driver side axle being the same for the auto and manual trans but the passenger side is different for the auto and manual. Also you said you had yours SHIPPED to your door and I said its hard to find a new one AT THE LOCAL PARTS STORE.

I figure that since the auto is more common on tls and both the auto and manual share the left side axle its more readily available at the parts stores where the passenger side axle for the manual is not.

Hope that clears it up for ya.

It clears it all up....Your on Acurazine so you have a computer. Not sure why anyone buys parts from there local dealer who charges way more and you have to pay tax. Shipping is usually nothing so yeah, thats weird why you want to drive around all day looking for a part that can be found with a click of the mouse, for a lot less money!

OK....Again, your opinion on why you should or should not buy from one place or another does not negate the fact that you clearly need to slow down on trying to bash on someone elses post. If your intentions were to help me out in the first place, and not to come off as being a prick who cant wait to jump on every opportunity to try to hate on someone, then I wouldn't have had to waste my time pointing out to you that you failed to read my post correctly. Not to mention your reply was irrelevant.
Now you again chose to ignore the fact that you got ahead of yourself on being a prick in the first place and instead decided to preach about why buying online is so much better 100% of the time.

Anyways, to keep this post somewhat on track....I CALLED around to all the major auto parts stores in the Houston area and none of them had the passenger side axle available for the manual transmission. I have always bought my axles from local parts stores and have paid between 50-100 bucks a piece. I only had one go out on me but it was easy to pull the old one out and walk in and exchange it under warranty since I bought it from a LOCAL store, and didnt have to wait...

So to each his own and mmade22

PS...if you have a friend that works at the dealership that'll give you their cost (cost + 10%, there are various "hookup" prices they can show you depending on what code they put in the price lookup computer but the one I mention is the employee bottom line price) it's $145 for the passenger side axle for manual transmission. The local shop I had do the install for $40 told me they could have gotten me a refurb for $90 but I liked OEM for 50 more.

Good luck.
I agree...for a LOT of stuff I do order online, but some things I like driving up and picking up in my hands and having a place that I can physically go to if something takes a dump.

Ha Ha, you are funny....Point taken kid! Yes, I can say whatever I want and sometimes I might come across rude but it is what it is. I am one of those guys on here that gives a lot to the Azine community and am glad to help someone out. Look me up if you want to learn a thing or two about your car. Sometimes, people get offended and just get there panties in a bunch. I have to many other things to worry about in life than to think twice about who is pissed off by one of my posts.

Now it makes even more sense to me.....Your driving a top dollar car and putting junk aftermarket parts into it. Enough said. Pepboys here I come!! Don't get so offended by what people post...Ever heard of a sense of humor?

Funny it seems to me you are the comedian old man. I have a sense of humor I just don't have patience for people who are rude for no reason whatsoever, simple as that. No need to say any more.

That said, I never doubted your usefulness on this site cuz although I am new to the site, I have read countless post using the search feature which so many ppl cant seem to find. I understand that there is a large majority of ppl on car forums that can barely change their own oil without a manual but I can asure you that I am not one of them. I have been modding hondas since I was 16 and got my first car. My last project was an integra with a fully built motor and custom turbo setup putting down 420 hp at the wheels, which I built my self from top to bottom. Not only was the car stupid fast but show quality inside and out. So you may know a bit more about the tl specifics and I have no problem learning from anybody but understand that i didnt watch fast and furious yesterday and decide i wanted to live my life a quarter mile at a time, I am a true car fanatic and have plenty of experience under my belt.

I have owned nothing but hondas since i started driving and i still would not consider them "top dollar" so im not sure what you are comparing them to?? Anyways, I agree that 99% of the time OEM is the way to go for quality parts but I have also learned through personal experience that some times buying oem is nothing more than overpaying.

So lets put this pissing contest to rest and continue to do what we do and help those who need good info, cuz as much as i enjoy a good debate, im getting tired of typing these replys...

Luckily I started another thread the other day before i found this one. I did a little investigating tonight and think I have a bad axle. My car makes a sound like popcorn popping from the front passenger side of the car as I slow down between 2 and 0 mph and then again as I start to accelerate.tonight I put the car in neutral, lifted it and turned the wheel by hand and from what I can tell the noise came from where the axle connects to the transmission...I think. The car wasn't high enough for me to get under it to find out for sure, but I thought I would get some more input from you guys. I should mention I have an 05 AT.

Before I submit my order for a Driver-Side GSP axle for my car (2004 6spd), could someone confirm that part# NCV36127 will infact work for my car?

meaning that the AT/MT are the same part.....

Thanks

FYI

Just ordered it. Turns out that #NCV36127 is for the MT while #NCV36128 is for an AT.
