New Axle needed
New Axle needed
Can anyone tell me where I can get the following part at the lowest price?
44306-SDB-A00 DRIVESHAFT ASSY., L.
This is the left side OEM axle for an Auto 2004 TL.
I have tried acuraoemparts.com and acuraautomotiveparts.com and both have it for $238.94
Anyone know if i can get it cheaper?

You can try www.hondacuraworld.com, or ask for Tim.
www.hondacuraworld.com seems a bit more expensive.
Does anyone also have any recommendations on aftermarket that would be up to OEM standards but be less damaging to my wallet?

If you want aftermarket vs OEM, just visit your local Autozone, Advance Auto, or Pep Boys. They all sell them. I did a quick search on the Advance Auto site and came up with the following for $69.

No idea. Look at the link I provided and you'll see the warranty info and can decide for yourself. But if you're really concerned about quality, dig deeper in your wallet and get the OEM one or do some searching and see if you can find a higher quality aftermarket part.
I was going to call my Service Advisor to see how much parts and labor would cost to replace mine as well. I have 6MT and my left side is in need of replacement, too. I might as well replace both at the same time. However, I found a site that's selling it for $10 cheaper.

See if any of the parts guys at your local dealership are young/cool. Talk to them a bit...
I paid $145 for each of mine OEM. Had one of the tech's install it on the driver side for $60...the passenger side I took to a place that does CV Boots etc and they only charged me $40 to install...under 400 for both installed wasn't too bad. Still have a slight vibration though...not like before. Maybe I shouldn't have lowered the car........
....RIGHT!!??!!!!

One last question on the topic. My left axle is the one in need of replacment. The right side is fine at this point. Would I need to change both at the same time or can I get away with doing just one side for now until the other side goes.
^I changed the driver front axle 3 weeks ago (the car was shaking like crazy around 50-60mph). Didnt have to change the other one....
The car feels just like NEW. It's basically like I have another TL

that's just the cost of the axle to the, i can almost guarantee...cause it shows 145 their price and 280 customer price on the computer. I'm sure they don't even pay that.
4 times...I would have either stopped launching the car or moved on to a car that is built to race.

That sounds more like a bad engine mount or even suspension bushing/balljoint. It's gonna take some work to find out where that's coming from...

I put GSP axles on the MDX.. They're great.. been on for 15k miles no problems and silky smooth. It cost me $140 no tax.. no shipping & was on my doorstep within 5 days. I paid my trans guy ~ < $130 to put them in.. best part is they are LLT, so whenever they go out I'm covered.
^ if you ship your old driveshafts to them they'll refund the remainder. So you pay $143.. if you send them your shafts.. they'll refund you $68. Just get the GSP shafts, no core exchange necessary & they're less expensive.
They should all meet spec.. auto companies are becoming more & more like computer companies. Vehicles are assembled by parts from component mfg's & not necessarily from the company, like Honda may have several vendors that produce individual parts. I highly doubt OE shafts are made by Honda, more than likely there are 2 or 3 approved (cheapest bid) Honda vendors who make them. I'm not sure who does the reman on the Rockauto shafts but even if the core is from an OE vendor the internals may not be or vice versa, so you shouldn't play too much into OE quality being superior, but yes the reman shafts will be repaired shafts just not necessarily repaired OE shafts.

Is the GSP one in any way inferior to the OEM? I mean, I drive the car hard every once in a while. Will the GSP be able to handle it? This is my first axle in the 5 years i've owned the car. I would like to go another 5 before I have to replace it again.
OK I really need some help here guys. Can everyone Chime in on the following?
If you were in the same position I was, and planned on keeping the car for a very long time, which would you go with?
1. OEM Part @ $240
2. GSP part from AdvanceAuto @ $70
3. Cardone Select part from Rockauto.com @ $50
Please help me make a decision guys! This is really killing me. I'm trying to minimize the amount of money I'm going to spend on this as money is tight for me these days.
Thanks!

Money is tight? for 50 bucks you could change the damned thing 5 times before you hit OEM cost...try that first IMO. I'm sure it has a warranty...if it takes a crap it'll probalby happen in the first year while it's covered anyway...if it does...return it and go for the 70 one..if that does too...return it and go OEM.

btw.. I must mentioned this in a previous thread of yours but damn.. 3 AT's..
If I was doing the work myself, I would do one of the following:
- If it was an OEM axle and is in good shape w/ only torn boots (no vibration or noise), I would pull it out and install new OEM boots (usually about $30 per side). Do both at the same time so you don't have to pull it appart again sooner than later. This is nice cause OEM is quality and you don't have to worry about getting a remanufacured axle that vibrates (this happens sometimes).
- If the axle was in bad shape, I would replace it with a remanufactured lifetime warranty one from the local parts store. I prefer Autozone since they have a zillion locations all over the US, and your warranty info is saved in the computer under your phone number. This means that should the boots tear again, you can get replacment axles anywhere, any time, without receipts.
A tip for people getting reman. axles at the local store:- Always call ahead to see if they have the part in stock BEFORE starting the job.
- Pull the old part out before going to the store so you can compare the old part to the new. This also avoids any extra core charges...

hey guys! lately ive noticed some crazy vibrations around highway speeds (100 km/h - 130 km/h). just wondering if this could be the issue...i have an "B" comin up so i could ask them to look at it then...and i just checked the wheel bearing, thats definitly not the issue.
