New to Acura, possible concerns

HI all... I just bought a 2008 TL AT with 80,000 clicks about two weeks ago. I noticed a few differences from my previous "non luxury" sedan that i am not sure if its normal or should be concerns. I noticed sluggish acceleration from a stop, i feel like im pressing really hard on the gas and nothing is happening... Also rough shifts when accelerating (but i can live with it) and alot worse down shifting. The car literally feels like a manual, i almost dont have to break. When i go from P to D, there is a good 3 second delay before i can move. If i hit the gas right away, the car jolts and it feels like its gonna fall apart lol.

The only other concern i have is when the climate is turned on, the car is extremely loud, like a humming sound when it clicks in.

Sorry for such a long complaint but i am bringing it back on monday of next week and having a friend of mine look into it. i do have warranty for another year.

Can someone comment on if these feels are normal?... I saw some posts of people talking about sensors, accelerator pedal adjustment something and pressure switches but i have no idea what they are.

Any imput will be helpful before monday

Thanks in Advance

I believe changing the 3rd and 4th gear pressure switches will greatly help with transmission feel.
also, the fluid might have not been changed, I suggest doing a 3x3 drain and fill.

Shouldnt they have told me that when i bought the car?... Is that about the right time and mileage to do these things?

"Shouldnt they" and "DID they" are two completely different things.

lets make it simple:
you're complaining of tranny feel and shifts, through acurazine we have documented our trials and tribulations.
we have found that changing the 3rd and 4th gear pressure switches while changing the fluid greatly improves tranny feel and shifts.

Here is the thread that started it all, and I hope you have a couple of hours to read.

Thanks Justnspace, greatly appreciated....

i hope it helps on fuel economy too im getting about 400 kms to a tank. the range on the trip is about 660, so i think it all might be connected. Anything on the noise when the climate is on?

Didn't you notice it when you test drove a car?
Transmission 3 sec. delay, hard shifts, break assist (down shifts). You could feel all of that without being told.

Experienced nothing like this on the testdrive at all... maybe a slight sluggish feeling but never driven a TL before. This is all new within the last 3 days. Plus i drove the car pretty hard on the test drive.... and when i give it good gas, i dont feel anything.... its all when you drive the car slow

It sounds like the cure to your "slow acceleration" problem is "give it more gas."

Your TL shouldn't be sluggish at all.

Some thing's wrong, just get it fixed... bought mine with 115k, at about 127k now. Just a few hours ago at lunch I let the "car man" at the office test drive it to very high speeds, he said he has driven "over 100k cars" before and was mind-blown. He said it drives/controls like a new car, definitely not like over 100k.

Go drive a brand new Corvette and then say this sentence again... the need for breaking will be even 3x less...

It is called you have a powerful engine, this is to be expected.

I dont think thats what he was referring to.
the automatics have something called engine logic or brake logic which slows down the vehicle when you let off the gas; just like a manual transmission

Do you let the car go into gear before hitting the accelerator when going from P to D?? If you hit the accelerator as soon as you shift into D, of course it is going to get "jolty" because its not in gear yet!

I have to ask, what was your previous vehicle?

Nope i let it go into D before i hit the gas but it honestly takes a good 2 - 3 seconds to kick in...

I had a 2005 Nissan Altima 3.5SL.

When I go from P to D I get the delay also, every TL I've been in has that happen I don't think it is an issue what the rpms when you shift from P to D and they will drop by about 200 when you are fully in gear.

The TL has engine braking.
It's never a bad idea to replace ATF and very easy.
Remember this car is heavy so going from 0 to 40 will take some power.

our engines make peak power from 4k-redline.

the VQ(3.5 nissan motor) motors make more torque than us at lower RPM's.
so, it'll feel more powerful from a stop.

just a different characteristic of different engines.

unless you are describing of MAJOR power loss, I wouldnt be concerned
