Question my car cries... seriously..

OK well maybe it doesn't really cry but it sure sounds like it does. That is the best way to describe it.. a crying/whining moan. It makes it about 20% of the time when I turn my car off whether I was or was not using the AC. It lasts for about a full second. It seems to come from under the hood. Any ideas?

Due to the record heat, it may be the fans which are electric on the radiator. There are two fans, the condensor fan motor and the radiator fan motor on the radiator.

You could open the hood while watching the fans and have someone shut off the car to observe the fans to see if this is the sound you are hearing.

I wonder if it's the coolant system (radiator, overflow, etc.) gassing out a bit.

I thought maybe I had some air in the radiator or smthn like that but no.. The hard thing about having someone else turn it off each time while I check under the hood is that it doesn't always happen....that would prob get annoying haha..but I agree that is probably the only way to really find out what it is.

It sounds like your a/c system is equalizing...and that's perfectly normal. Turn the a/c off a block from home and see if the noise is gone when you turn your car off.

Just FYI (and you may already know this) but your AC is always on unless you specifically set it to off.
