Multiple electronics issues, chronic battery drain, Please help

Hello again, AZiners,

I'm having multiple issues with my 05 TL.

HFL: Doesn't work at all. Never did. No reaction when hitting the buttons whatsoever

Memory seats: Most of the time they don't work. They will randomly work when it rains.

Memory mirror settings: Same deal as the seats

Battery drain: If I don't start my car for a few minutes at least every 2-3 days, my battery goes completely dead. Been through multiple batteries.

I've seen random articles and seen lots of how-to's but they are all 3+ years old. Not sure if any new knowledge has been brought to light regarding issues like this

Also: I know this isn't exactly a problem but I don't want to spam threads, if anyone happens to know if it's possible to get an android device to play music through the stock stereo, I'd highly appreciate that info. Same deal as the other issues. I see a few options/methods, but they are all very old and some are very costly.

Thanks again!

HFL is probably draining the battery. Disconnect it from behind the map lights and it should solve the issue. You can buy a new unit if you want HFL functionality. SOme folks have replaced the capacitors in their units and got them to work.

The memory seats won't work if one of the mirror actuators are damaged. Do both of your mirrors move in all 4 directions? If not, replace the actuators (about $30 each) and it should fix it.

Cheapest method for any audio input is a cassette tape adapter. If you want a hardwired connection, there are many devices you can use to add in an AUX, but I'm not aware of any android interface that can FFW/RWD with the radio controls.

Well, I AM missing my passenger mirror. A semi kicked up a chunk of concrete into it and destroyed it. The mirror glass is gone, but the housing is hanging on loosely and the inner frame is still there. But like I said, when it rains, the memory seats have a high chance of working randomly when I start the car.

In regards to HFL: Yeah I was reading this is a common cause of the battery draining. I figure I'm gonna need a new module. Best I can find is $200 for a new one so far.

As far as Android Audio: If I can get my music library on my phone to play in my car, I'll sacrifice steering wheel controls. Can't do tape deck adapter because I care about audio quality too much.

The missing side mirror is why your memory buttons fail to work for both the seat and mirrors.

The HFL is busted, and its why the battery is draining. This is very common and theres a lot of threads on it.

Even if you replace the HFL, it does not do bluetooth audio, which sounds like you might be interested in. All it does is phone calls. Plug your phone into the aux for the best sound quality.

There's aux!? Where?! I've been ALL OVER that car.

Edit: Just checked. I have no Auxilliary.

Thank you guys for confirming, by the way. I know there are multiple threads. I actually searched them all before posting. I only posted because I thought the fact that I had multiple electronics issues meant it could be something worse.

Grom makes a phone/bluetooth adaptor that plugs into most head units that have an aux port or inplace of the cd changer. The unit comes with a 2.5 mini phone jack. Bluetooth is via a dongle add on for about $50 more. You can stream your music via blutooth... sounds excellent.

You can also answer calls through the head unit by pressing the forward skip botton. To hangup press the skipp back button twice. A mic is included with the unit and the sound is played through your stereo.

And yes volume controls work at the steering wheel.

Check it out on youtube. There are other companies that make the same things as well.

I have the Grom unit in my 2g tl.

Yes, I did install it myself. I was lucky, there was a DIY video on YouTube on my exact car. There are videos on other cars as well, you should do a search.

It's not that hard, it's plug and play, no wires to splice because the aux port is per-wired to control the add on unit. The add on unit has ports for Android or Apple or the Bluetooth. It's fully integrated... just like factory. Once everything is hook up, all you have to do is hide all the wires, the aux unit, and put the car back together. I did it in about 4 hours (first time)

All you have to do is get access to the rear of the head unit. Contact Grom or the dealer to see if your car stereo has an aux port or a port for and external CD changer.

If a CD changer was an option for your car, then there is an aux port.

OP, LOL... Replace your mirror, I think that is your battery drain. The wires in the mirror are probably causing he parasitic draining of your battery.

All I have is an internal 6 disc changer. Never heard about an external option.

Spewing false information. Not true on the earlier 3G TL's sorry.. i believe only 07+ have AUX.

GROM, iSimple, or DICE units work for our cars, many install/DIY's in our garage.

Sorry, what I meant to say is if there was a CD changer as an option then you can use that as an aux port.

Anyways, it appeares for the later acuras Grom is using the SAT port as a way to connect the Phone/Blurtooth to the radio.

Yeah this will be picky since I really don't want to give up satellite radio. Hoping I can get CDC firmware to work. I'll sacrifice Album/Track names on my screen for that.
