More than a bad starter?

with the key turned all the way i hear 1 click then dead silence. banged on the starter solenoid with a wrench and the car finally turned over. yesterday i got a new starter installed. but today i had the same problem, turned the key all the way and nothing. but the second try started the car. what seems to be the problem?

Threads like these upset me. I'm curious to how you came to the conclusion that it was your starter?

oops forgot to mention it... i typed up the scenario before this and accidently hit the back page ... battery is fine, went through 2 different place and both passed. terminals are clean and tight. battery was bought less than 1 year ago.

check for wires with corrosion leading to the starter, battery. thats the next easiest and cheapest thing to do.

That's right. people tend to overlook the condition of terminal on the starter side. not only terminals, but also sometimes a rusty washer causes high voltage drop.

Couldn't have put it better. Connections cause a major percentage of electrical problem!

i have the same problem it only happens once in a while and i think it has to do with my starter as well but not 100% sure i try and start the car but it doesnt start then i turn it off and try it again then it works. sometimes when i come back into my car the navi code pops up so i think my car died out. what do you think is the problem?
