moonroof rattle at partial opening(tilt)

when i have the moonroof open at the tilt setting, i can hear the thing rattle over rough roads and bumps in the road...i have searched the tsb's, and had the car in the dealer for it...is there a fix or not...anyone...i believe when its open in the tilt, the wind deflector comes up a bit inside and rattles around...

again, i decided i would take matters into my own hands...dealer was unable to fix...after inspection, i noticed from the factory, they had already placed the ept per the tsb in the locations under the wind deflector...i figured out the problem for me was when in tilt mode, the top of the deflector was bumping up against the metal underside of the moonroof...i opend up the roof about half way and looked at the underside of the leading edge of the roof...you can see its kind of cut out to allow for the tilt feature...i took some velcro, soft side and cut about a 6" piece about 1/2" wide and stuck it into the groove and it appears i have fixed it...the way you can tell is before i put the velcro in there i put the moonroof in tilt and took my fist and hit the roof inbetween the windshield and the beginning of the moonroof on top of the outside of the car...you can hear the rattle by hitting in this area...after the velcro, you cant hear it anymore...

Would it be possible to take a couple pics of the area where you installed the felt? Thanks

I'm almost certain that it has before, but the last time I had it open was last summer! I figure I can tackle that issue once I open it up and see if I hear the rattle again.

thats cool, i will try to get some pics up...if you do have that rattle, its easy, like i said, you will see the spot once you open the roof about half way and if your sitting in the drivers seat look up and run your hand across the leading edge on the inside of the roof...the metal part...there is a concave, or grooved part that is smooth...i placed the felt in that grooved part...in the middle about 6" long...

Well...I had my moonroof open this weekend, in the tilt position. And yes it does rattle, but I'm still trying to visualize the area you applied the felt too. Would it be possible to please post some pics.
Thanks

This should help...I found the Service Bulletin for the Moonroof Wind Deflector Rattle:

for general sunroof health:
check all the screws that hold the deflector and tracks in place-
then clean the tracks and lube with white lithium spray grease
The painted metal edges can be wiped clean and car wax or QD quick detail spray can be used to protect them. Silicone spray the rubber seals for the roof

Window tint material on the inside of the sunroof will reduce interior temps dramatically!!
