Memory button

Hi,

I have a 2006 TL; recently I found that the memory button on the driver door doesnt light up when I click on either of them..Also, the setting I had saved is not what I use normally, but the setting I used to pull out something from underneath the driver's seat ( i had to push it forward)..

When I click on the memory button, both slots blink together and then nothing happens.

Please advise.

ardent_guy.

Try reprogramming both memory 1 and memory 2 and see what happens.

Tried that tooo...still doesnt work...it only remembers the last-to-last setting i used in mem 2 - pushed the seat fully forward...

When i shut off the engine and close the door it comes to that position, so when i sit inside, im into the steering wheel...

this is very frustrating...mem 1 also doesnt unlink...please advise..

Well for the meantime you can unlink your remote. Thatll keep the seat from adjusting you into the steering wheel. What is this I read about something under the driver seat? The memory seat control unit is under that seat so thats why I ask.

Well, I pushed the seat forward to pull out a CD case from underneath the driver's seat...It saved that setting though I didnt save it.

When I unlink in the remote, nothing happens...it still has the same settings as before...what should I do?

When you say "same settings" what do you mean? When entering the car with an unlinked remote the seat shouldnt move at all. It should stay right where it was when you left the car. Does it move anyway?

When I unlink the seats using the lock and unlock button on the remote, nothing happens...the setting that was for 1 and 2 still remain after I unlink...I thought they'll go away and I can save fresh settings in them....but I cant.

Ok. That makes sense. Now when you get in the car and move the seat all the way back lets say, hit mem and then #1 next move the seat 6 inches forward and hit mem then #2. Let me know what the results tests are.

Ok. That tells us that the wires from the switch to the control unit are good. Try this. When you move the seat away from one of the positions the mem #1 or #2 go out right? assuming they do..move the seat away from #1 and #2 spot. Turn ignition off, and then hold all three buttons down... Turn the key on and wait a sec, then release all the buttons. Lemme know if the lights do anything. (self diag test)

its probably your MSC (memory unit) which is under the seat. I had a similiar problem with it losing the memory settings. But i know its common in 04 and 05s.

Hi Racinghart, did you find out the solution to the mem seat reset? ever since it was reset, the instrument panel light has always been max bright, even if i lower the brightness, it doesnt stay after engine shutdown...this is very frustrating as it is very bright and i have to always lower it before i start driving.

thanks.

did you guys somehow turn the "driver 1/2" remote transmitter recognition off by holding both the "lock" and "unlock" buttons down until it flashes twice? i did this and all of my "driver 2" settings never came up like radio/xm. it was as if everything was default or using a valet key.

OK. Do this...hold all three memory buttons and turn the key on. Hold all three buttons for more than 5 seconds and release them before 10 seconds. Listen for a buzzer to confirm all data has been reset.

This is harder to watch than a relay call...

Mad props to Racinghart though, for sticking with this just to help another member.

RacingHart, I also have a problem with my memory seats. They never worked. When i turn on my lights, the backlight works, but the leds dont work. None of the buttons respond when i push them. The dealer told me it the MSC memory unit under the seat. How can I figure out if its the switch on the door or really the unit under the seat? All my power seat controls work and the back light works on the buttons and all the fuses are OK.

did you save any settings yet? If you are using an after-market remote, maybe the unit was disconnected...

Service bulletin (04-005 DPMS does not work) does apply to your vehicle. Are you still in warranty?

Does it look like the door panel has been off before? There is a connector for the switch. Does the backlight work? thas will indicate if its plugged in.

guys..thanks for the info..but Im still trying to figure out how to fix it....

1. the memory slots are not registering new settings and are using bad positions (which I didnt save)..

2. the instrument backlight is coming up at full brightness on ignition..this didnt happen before I reset all three buttons (Mem1, Mem2 and the save)...I have to necessarily lower it every time i start the ignition...

please advise..

Do all your mirrors and seats work as designed? Aside from the DPMS issue.
