Loud whining while idling
Loud whining while idling
So I have a 2006 tl, just got an engine swap and everything. It wasn't until about two weeks ago that it started making like a whining noise when it was idling. I finally figured out that if I remove the oil dipstick it stops making the noise, but as soon as it seals, it starts the whining noise again. It sounds really loud in the oilpan but definitely not sure what it could be. Any suggestions help!!
All of the fluids are topped off. My brother is a mechanic and he's been working on it. I've read online that it could be the pcv valve, but we changed it out and nothing. Only when the dipstick comes out, it stops making the noise. I've read over that it could be the egr valve, but not too sure..

Make certain that when you pull the PCV valve out there is suction in the valve at idle.
The other end is a tube attached to the large rubber intake hose and runs back into the valve cover.

Okay, so yesterday that I was with my brother talking about the car and goving him all the tips. We had a lightbulb go off. When I got the car, the intake was broken a d needed to be changed. It had a hose (now concluding it was the other end of the pcv), that wasn't atached because it was broken. As soon as we changed it and attached all hoses, that's when the noise came about. Would that mean that it can stil be clogged from somewhere else? Or could it be something else aside from the pcv?
If the PCV valve is pulled, checked with the engine running, and when placing a digit over the valve there is
noticeable vacuum, I would assume the fresh air that is to enter the engine is being restricted. Make certain the
new hose isn't collapsed/kinked and is attached to air intake duct.
If the car is still making the sound, pull the hose off the valve cover and see if it stops.

So my loud whining problem has been solved!
Lesson learned: DON'T BUY CHEAP AFTERMARKET PARTS!!
The intake I bought and replaced did not have an opening where the other end of the pcv, I imagine, goes connected to. There was not enough air going through, causing that horrible noise.
