Listen to this.....

I dropped my car off this morning at Wayne Acura to get some rattles fixed. Sunroof, rear deck, passenger door, seat belt by my ear... I get a call back telling me that they can't work on the rattles because the suspension has been altered. He is telling me since the rattles only occur when I'm driving that the stiffer suspension is causing the rattles.

They wouldn't loan me a car because I'm only 23 even though I received loaners from them since I was 21, so they rented a car from Enterprise for me. A FU<Kin Dodge Caravan. Can you believe that sh!t.

What can I do?

There should be a TSB regarding the rear deck rattles. So it should have nothing to do with the suspension.

I took my car in after I put on Comptech springs and my dealership even told me that the suspension wasn't tightened properly. They said they torque'd it back to spec. I was very grateful and they applied the TSB for my rear deck.

So if there is a TSB they should fix it no matter what kind of aftermarket parts I have.

Yes. In Wayne off a rt 23.

Could I use the Moss-Magnussen Act on them. I had the rattles before I lowered the car on Tein S Tech. Don't they have to prove that the springs are causing the rattle.

I'm so pissed...

How about trying a different dealership?

You could use the act against them but you're going to be a repeat customer right? Why sour the relationship? Talk to the service manager and talk to him nicely. Maybe he will sympathize.

i live in wayne and i will not bring my car there because they will say anything to get off on fixing thing like that. They installed the comptech springs on my RSX about 2 years ago and tried pulling that shit. I go to Park ave acura and they dont say anything about mods really. I mean they start complaining after the Turbo but unitl then they never said anything.

This is the 3rd dealership. The other dealerships haven't given me a problem about the mods. They fix the problem but the rattles come back after a week or so. That is why I tried Wayne.

Common misperception. It's strictly at the dealership's discretion. Some will downright deny you, while others will install and warranty a supercharger.

As for the original post, that's sadly how it is with today's aftermarket-manufacturer-dealership relationship. And honestly, it does hold water. Lowered and stiffer suspension does emit more vibrations and shock to the rest of the car instead of absorbing it. And rattles that might not have necessarily been there with the stock suspension could have reached the threshold with the stiffer suspension.

Are they right? Well, they are making an EXTREMELY generalized claim regarding the stiffer suspension and consequently the rattles. But here's what you tell them. You tell them that it is not an uncommon problem for those parts to rattle, especially when there is even a TSB out for the rear deck rattle. That rattle is occurring even on completely factory stock vehicles (otherwise there wouldn't be a TSB), and it is not unreasonable at this point to assume that the lowered and stiffer suspension is not necessarily the primary cause of it.

If all else fails, call Acura corporate and explain the situation. They usually prove to be helpful.
