Humming noise in 5th gear AT tranny
I've notice recently I'm getting this humming/drone noise whenever the car is in 5th gear. The noise starts around 60mph+ either I'm accelerating or letting off the gas the sound is still there. But when I down shift to 4th the noise goes away. Has anyone here had this problem before ?

seems whenever i hit 5th gear in mine, the drone is increased on my exhaust. it's normal.
like you'll be cruising along in 4th gear in SS and then switch to 5th and the rpm's drop and the exhaust goes "bbbbbmmmm". <-that's my impression.

check your wheel bearings

^ differential is intergrated into the trans and as such uses auto trans fluid for lubrication.

Here's what I would check:
Service Bulletin 05-017
Engine Mounts
Transmission Mounts
I'm having the same problem. Doing the 105k check this month some time and replacing the timing belt/pump, tensioner, spark plugs, transmission pressure switches, and 1x3 red line ATF. If this doesn't fix it, I don't know WTF will.

I dont think this have anything to do with the tranny since the sound does get a bit higher when the car is about 65mph @1.5k-1k in neutral. I might have a leak somewhere, ill check the bearings also. ill keep you guys updated she sitting at 125k right now.
