Horn works sporadically

I took my car in yesterday to get inspected and my baby failed the inspection because my horn wasn't working. I almost foresaw this happening, because my horn has been tempermental lately. Sometimes it'll work just fine and other times, especially when I need it, it won't work at all. I've been doing some searches and some people say that it's due to the grounding and that adding some special grease would fix it. My question is, where do I add the grease? And what kind of grease do I need to add?

You probably have some corrosion on the horn connectors (ground and power wire), so you'd have to find out where the horn is on the car, clean the contacts and use some dielectric grease on them prior to reassembly/ reconnection.

horn is located on the passenger side right next to the windshield wiper fluid tank. It is way easier to look at with the bumper off

Done any work prior to it being intermittent where the airbag in the steering wheel was removed?

There's an electrical connector in there for the ground that activates the horn.

I have the same issue in my '08 TL-S. Sometimes I have to push the wheel in 3-4 different places before I get the horn to work.

I hope you find a fix.

Good luck!

This is exactly how mine is. And some days are better than others. Yesterday I could not get it to work no matter what I did. However, today it worked perfectly on the first try. So, prior to work I went back to the shop and I passed the inspection. I just bought myself another year to figure this problem out. LOL. Thanks for all the help guys. I'll be sure to keep everybody posted.

If it works depending on where you press the horn at then it's probably the connection on the back of the airbag.

I've re-assembled the steering wheel before and put the ground wire back on incorrectly and the horn wouldn't shut off once I reconnected the battery, had to disconnect it again, wait the 30 mins for it to be safe to disconnect the airbag and remove it again to properly reconnect it.

I'd check there, it's just a little black clip that clips onto a ground wire, I think you can actually see it from the bottom of the steering wheel.

There's a plastic piece that pops off right at the bottom of the steering wheel, just don't disconnect the yellow airbag connector without disconnecting the battery and leaving it off for 30 minutes prior to.
