Hissing noise when accelerating
Hissing noise when accelerating
The noise is there at idle too, but it's very faint. It gets a bit louder when I accelerate. Since I recently had an A12 service (Dealer did A1 and I changed the air & cabin filters), I looked to verify that the filters were in place and housings secured properly. Those items checked out. This morning I had some free time in between errands, so I stopped by the dealership in hopes of getting a tech to take a short ride with me. The SA (my regular) agreed and got one of the techs. I drove about 1000 ft before the tech said he'd like to take a look under the hood. He listened briefly and then checked the air filter housing for damage and to be sure it was properly in place. The tech then decided to drive. As we waited for the light, the tech revved the engine a bit (in park) and then said he definitely heard what he believes to be an issue with an idler pulley at the least. We didn't even get out onto public streets (it's a large lot) when the tech took us back to the service entrance. The SA has me scheduled to drop off my car tomorrow (7/8), which I may have to switch to Saturday (or Monday).
When I first heard this noise I was thinking about this TSB (link below) as I did hear a slight chirp, but not nearly as loud as this one on the TSB.
My car: 79K on the clock, bone stock, has been typical Honda reliable and I have AcuraCare. Only trouble spots have been troublesome front passenger seat when new (seat bottom replaced) and a few months ago, the green "D" (drive light started flashing. They replaced a pressure switch and flushed the tranny.
I'm intersted in any feedback you all may have. Stay tuned for updates.

Dropped my car off at the dealer yesterday morning. Got an '11 TSX Tech as a loaner. The parts description was a Tensioner Set (04317-RCA-305) which was covered by AcuraCare. I forgot to ask the SA what would be the cost of this job. Anyone know the cost of the part and labor for this job? The prices aren't on my paperwork.
I dropped off the loaner and picked up my car Saturday morning. It sounds to be back to it's normal self for now. I hope so, as I have a 500 mile road trip coming this week.

This is old, I am totally aware, so save it. This might help others who hear a hissing sound. Especially if they replaced the sway bar.
There is a rubber grommet that goes around the steering linkage.. And it was shifted to 1 side when the raised the subframe, and reconnected the linkage. So, the linkage was slightly pinched off to 1 side. I got a view of what the grommet looks like
And then inspected it on my car from the inside, and simply pushed it back into proper position with my finger.. And hissing is gone.
The big side of that grommet merely rests against the body. So it does not exactly "fasten" in any special way. So it is easy for that thing to get whopper-jawd.. haha
The best way to inspect yours for any gaps between the body and the grommet, is to place a bright light on the engine side of the firewall.. And look from the inside to see if you see any light coming through.
