HFL Issue & Gas Cap Message

Just purchased a 2007 TL, trying to pair my phone with HFL/Bluetooth doesn't work. The buttons on the wheel don't seem to respond. When I navigate through the cluster gauge computer and select Hands Free Link, it shows "Booting Up.." and just stays on that, it never shows that it's completed booting up. When I hold down the voice recognition button, i hear no beep indicating that it's ready for a voice command. I'd be grateful for any advice and/or help anyone can provide me! Thanks in advance!

Also, off topic: I get a warning message saying to tighten the gas cap. I've made sure it's tightened all the way. Is replacing the gas cap the best way to start eliminating this issue?

To be honest a quick search would get you the answers to both as both are known issues.

I've been searching google for both of my inquiries. That's what lead me to this forum. If you have any helpful tips, I'm all ears.

Thanks.

When the members say "search," they mean search this forum with the search bar in the upper right or with "Acurazine" added into the Google search.

The HFL is dead; you'll need to replace the unit or bake the circuit board(not permanent fix in most cases): https://acurazine.com/forums/3g-tl-a...light=hfl+dead

The Gas Cap message may be a gas cap or a bad purge valve: https://acurazine.com/forums/3g-tl-p...ap+purge+valve

The removal and replacement of the likely bad parts is an easy DIY for both problems.

G/L, and welcome to AZ.

Hopefully they fix the HFL issue since I replaced all 3 of my TL, the original one lasted since the car was new to 8 years 95k miles. The other 2 unit already death when I bought the car, including my 08 which as 48k miles. To check and see your HFL status scroll through the option until it reach HFL menu then click selected, if it said "booting up" then its r.i.p

AS you can see they change the version of of the HFL hopefully they fix the issue.

Don't bother with the hfl. Get a bt45-hon3 if you don't have the navigation. If you do, there is another version.
