"Gas cap loose" MID message
"Gas cap loose" MID message
Hey guys,
I started my car up this morning and I got a weird msg on the MID. Something along the lines of "Gas cap is loose."
So I shut of the car and made sure the gas cap was tightly fastened. Turned the car back on and the same message appears. This happens every time i start the car now.
Anyone know why this is happening? And more importantly how can i get rid of it?
I'd hate to make a trip the dealer for something so minor.
Thanks in advance!

Really? Has this happened to you before? if so how long did it take reset? And can I manually reset it?
It's not a big deal, but its just annoying seeing it every time!
I'm just wondering why it happened in the first place. I'm pretty careful about things like that. I highly doubt it was something i did....

"The message should go off after several days of normal driving once you tighten or replace the fuel cap."
I'll keep an eye out. As always, thanks for the info! Azine FTW yet again!! .

This just happened to me a week or so ago. my gas tank was low and I started the car and there it was.. that annoying amber glowing message.
I filled the car up and it was still there. I read the posting here and some say do this or do that to reset it but I didnt want to chance messing up something else. Most postings said wait a few days taking the cap off and on and restarting the car. I only did that when I filled it up. So I figured I would give it a week at most and if it didnt stop I would take it in.
It took mine a week to go away.

ha! mine did the same thing about 4 weeks ago...got out....tightend it really good and it still didnt go away. However, the next time I started the car it was gone and nothing since...strange though. (shrug)
I just had this happen after my first fill up. Just bought the car yesterday and filled up for the first time. I pulled over and checked the cap and it was tight. I turned it a couple more clicks and the light went out a few minutes later.
I hope this isn't something that happens every time
If it does I hope Acura has a permanent fix for it.
