Tighten Gas Cap Message on MID
Tighten Gas Cap Message on MID
My 2008 TSX recently started displaying "Tighten Gas Cap" on the MID. I've tighten it, even filled up the car twice, and the light won't go off. The gas cap obviously doesn't need to be tightened.
Anyone know why the light is staying on? Is there a way to clear the warning without taking the car to the dealer?
Thanks

I got that one a while back. Took almost a week for the light to go away. I took it to the dealer. After they did a full evap system check, they said nothing was wrong. But they did replace the seal in the gas cap. They didn't say that they did, but after a reading a similar thread here, I checked. The new one is a different color than the old one. Haven't had a problem since.
It's under warranty, take it to the dealer and tell them the light's been on for an abnormally long time. If absolutely nothing else, they'll be able to clear the code, and they shouldn't charge anything for it. And who knows, maybe they're replace the gas cap seal.
On a side note, when you're filling up, be sure that the gas cap clicks when tightening it. Somebody here said they let it click 3 times. No more, no less. Don't quite understand the logic there, but I guess you can't argue with success.
