Help .!!! Tranny light blinking !!! What to do ??

Hey Az

I can't beleivw it. My car has only 53000 miles on it . It's a 2006 TL. This morning like any other morning I started my car and was about to head out to work when I looked down and saw the green light next to the "D" flashing. I'm really nervous right now. I took the car out for a spin and it drives like normal. I did notice it taking a little longer like 3000-3500 rpms before shifting but it shifts smooth still . The dealer had changed the ATF oil back around 46000 miles and the car still is running good. But this flashing light has me worried. I just recently changed my battery a few weeks ago but I don't think that is the problem. Help someone..... I have been on hold with the stealership for hours and still no response. What could be the problem? Thanx alot for any help

Sounds like you need to change out your 3rd and 4th gear pressure switches. They cost like $35 a piece. Do a search on "interesting conversation with transmission builder" and read that thread.

I would do the switches regardless but you may have other issues. It could be just a bad sensor such as a speed sensor or the ECU could have detected slip.

Catching auto trans issues early on is very important if you have any hopes of fixing it without a rebuild.

You can start by checking the condition of the fluid and then pulling codes to see what triggered the light.

No matter what happens, I would replace the factory fluid with Redline Racing and replace the 3rd and 4th gear pressure switches.

Owner's manual pg 181 (2004):

The ‘‘D’’ indicator comes on for a
few seconds when you turn the
ignition switch to ON (II). If it
flashes while driving (in any shift
position), it indicates a possible
problem in the transmission. Avoid
rapid acceleration, and have the
transmission checked by an Acura
dealer as soon as possible.

Thanx guys..... I'm just worrying if I caught it too late I haven't drove the car since. I'm still trying to make a appointment at the dealer. My biggest concern is if something is wrong I probably have to warranty now ...... The light flashes even when the car is parked. I could just start it and after a few seconds it comes on and stays on blinking ....

Just a update guys..... Took the car into the dealer and there response was that a ATF temperature sensor some part number 28650-rdg-004 was bad. Does this make any sense to anyone? When I asked the guy at the dealership if the tranny was over heating he said no it's just a sensor that sometimes goes bad for no reason ? Ohhh and it's just gonna cost me around $326 plus tax to fix ...... WTH to do now

ck with our sponsoring dealer/suppliers like wholesalepartsguy for the part

ck diy section for help on install

dealer price --did that include the standard $100 for diagnostic?

unless you got a CPO car or bought an aftermarket warranty--after 50kmiles on most parts... you are on your own

certain things like smog parts have longer warranty

if you have a flashing light, cel or other--any parts store can read the codes for you--save that 100 bucks the dealer wants for the same test,,you can buy the scanner tool for 100!!
Ca residents cant get free scans,,-but you can buy a scanner--go figure

Buy the sensor from the link above and follow these directions directly from the manual. Youll save 250$
