Help '06 TL driver side actuator

Hi

I referred to various DIY posts for fixing the driver side door lock actuator replacement. I got most of it fixed, but have the following questions:

1] The actuator itself is connected to the door with one screw only that is very difficult to get to. I am not able to tighten it completely. Did any one else have this problem?

2] After the replacement, I can unlock all the doors using the key fob. But when I lock it (from inside or outside), all doors except the driver door lock. Interestingly, when the lock the door from outside using the fob, the alarm is turned on. I can open the driver side door, and the car alarm goes off. I have to use the key to lock the door from outside.

Any clues/pointers?

Thanks for your help.

Looks like you didn't connect things back together properly.

First off, the actuator itself is not attached to the door.
It's attached to the door latch, which you have to remove (by undoing rods and the three screws)

This seems like such a common problem with Acura's

I'm about to take on this job myself on my two rear doors of my 05. Dealer wants nearly $700 to do both doors. No way in hell I'm paying that much. I'm about to order both actuators for $160 total, hopefully I won't have any issues.

If you need any help let me know.
The DIY isn't very good.

Thanks. I will try to take the latch out this weekend and post updates and pictures of this effort.

Wdnulik2no- the actuator for the door was about 25 bucks including shipping. 160 seems high.

Quick question for guitar player-

The three latch screws are the ones that are seen from the outside between door and car. Not sure if I understood where the rods are located. Can you provide some more details?

Thanks in advance.

wdnulik2no is replacing the rear door actuators.
For some reason they cost more.
$160 is a good price for both rears.

There's 2 rods that attach to the latch.

One rod connects to the keyhole, and the other rod connects to the door handle.

For the one that connects to the door handle, you unclip the rod from the latch.

For the one that connects to the keyhole, you unclip the rod from the keyhole.

Thanks man,

My parts should be getting here early next week, so I'll be sure to get up with you if I need any help. I have three things I need to fix, so I'll probably take on the two easy jobs first, before I get started on the actuator jobs.

FINALLY, got off my a$$ and got this job done this past weekend; also replaced front cupholder assembly, and the driver side side marker light. The actuators were not too terribly difficult. Hardest thing was getting the damn actuator assembly out of the door. The next hardest thing was getting the damn thing back in and reconnecting that hook thing that connects to the door lock. First door took me about 3 hours, but had to go back later because I didn't hook the handle assembly back correctly as the handle cable would keep coming loose inside the door whenever I tried to open it from the inside.

Second door was easier because I knew what to do, but it still took me much longer because I had so many problems getting the actuator back in the door for some reason. In the end however both locks are now working and I did it myself for just $160 (for the two actuators) and a few hours of my time.

Even though it took a while, $160 is so much better than $700 than what Acura Carland wanted to charge, so they can suck it!

Now I noticed that two back lights on a couple of buttons around the Navigation system are out, but the functions still work. I called Ed Voyles Acura (I'm done with Carland due to bad attitudes). Voyles wants $300 (parts + labor) to replace them. They told me that they replace ALL the bulbs when the lights go out because its such a pain to remove the navigation system; I agree, I saw the tutorial how to get it out and it is a lot of work. Honestly, I really don't mind the labor cost in this case, but they want $100 for the bulbs. I checked the price of all these bulbs on oemacuraparts.com and they only are about $45 for everything; sounds like Voyles is marking up the price for parts by over 100%.

If I don't trade this car in for something else I'll eventually get this fixed, hopefully I can buy the bulbs myself and get someone to put them in.
