Headlight turning off but turns back on again

I have an 04 TL and I just noticed that my left headlight turns off after a couple of mins. but when you turn the switch off then on again the headlight lights up but still goes off after a while.

Anyone have experienced this before? Can't be the bulb because it turns back on, I cant really think of anything at the moment other than something being loose but why does it turn back on.

Thank you in advance

Replace the left bulb.

Also dont turn your HIDs off/on repeatedly like that. You'll wear other things than just bulbs.

thanks, hopefully that fixes it.

It could also be the ballast that causes it to turn off I wonder.

I'd suggest replacing them in pairs. If one is going the other is likely not far behind.

maybe. but for sure your left bulb is in need of replacement. Good you ordered a pair since the remaining one probably color shifted due to age since new. Replace the bulbs and then cross the bridge with the ballasts if it comes to it.

Yep- pink eye is a sign that the xenon bulb is about to go completely. Sometimes they'll turn a yellowish color too. Did you ever get them changed? That likely was the issue with the switching off/on thing.

I think the headlight replacement fixed it. Although it seems like the 6000k is not as bright as oem

OEM is 4300K.. I would have gone with 4000K or 4500K. Closest to sunlight brah

Yeah there's a certain sweet spot between brightness and whiteness in xenon temperatures.

Back in August my dirver side headlight stopped working, it was raining. Then it came back on, which sucked, because i thoguht it was simply the bulb. THen it would come on and off jsut as mentioned earlier in the thread.

Nonetheless, changed the bulb on both sides, and also the igniter on the problem side. It worked for a week, then the headlight started on and off again, it would go off, then i would take off and put on the switch and it would come on again. Now all of a sudeen for the past two weeks, it is completely dead.

You guys think it is the ballast???
