Since this thread was revived today I thought some peoples might find this link helpful. Just copy/paste that part# from previous posts above (88900399) in the Part Number Search field on the right of the screen and it will come up. It's $9.48 per qt on there and it looks like they sell it by the qt, so your not stuck buying 6 at a time (unless you want that many).

Note it says free shipping on there to, but they do charge a $9.99 handling fee so thats a wash. But still $38.43 to your door is pretty good. I'll probablly pick some up later this week.

Great info, I called the dealer and they gave me a different part number and saying that's the same, I was kind of worry that's the wrong fluid. btw your price is so much better than here VA $14 each

Hi Everyone, FYI AMSOIL no longer recommends their MTL for the TL-Type S six speed due to the LSD.

From AMSOIL:

John;

After further research, we agree with the label and do not recommend it for use in this application. The part number Acura recommended over time has been updated. Our MTF meets the older specifications as claimed, but does not technically meet the newer part number specifications due to the addition of limited slip performance now included in the product recommended. We don’t think its use will cause any problems, but cannot be sure, so if you have not used it yet, we do not suggest trying it. We have no other product to suggest for this application at this time.

Thank you for bringing this to our attention.

revival of this thread

Hey guys just Bought and Acura 2007 TL type S. Went and test drive it and seemed to shift fine. Now that I have it , the infamous 3 rd gear is shifting weird. It feels sticky or like it wants to pop out. It does pop out on occasssion. It has 135k miles on it. Don't know if tranny has ever been worked on but I'm pretty Damn sold on this GM FM syncromesh y'all talked about. Will keep you updated. Hopefully I'm not a dumby buying into some myth. Lol

Don't worry, get the GM FM and you're good.

Anyone know how often the fluid should be replaced. I changed mine ~3 years ago and I feel it sorta struggle to get into 3rd, so wondering if it's due or if there's a more serious problem.

For these cars I wouldn't go any longer than 2 years or 20k miles before changing the MT fluid.

Amazon.com: ACDelco 10-4014 Friction Modified Synchromesh Manual Transmission Fluid - 32 oz: Automotive Amazon.com: ACDelco 10-4014 Friction Modified Synchromesh Manual Transmission Fluid - 32 oz: Automotive

Is that the same stuff mentioned previously? I had my transmission fluid drained and filled about a month ago due to some odd shifting and it shifted smooth like butter after the drain and fill.

Bad news, I used the non friction modified version and it's starting to shift funny again. It'll be a little rough when first taking off in 1st gear and kind of jump and a little rough going into 4th gear.

I read on here that many people do notice the difference between the friction modified and the non modified. Should I drain my current stuff out and use this? I find it really odd that it was perfectly fine for about two weeks and then the problem started again.

Just purchased the friction modified version of it and going to have it put in this weekend. It shifted a little rough yesterday but was perfectly fine today when I let the guy from the shop test drive it.

I hope this solves my issue!

First transmission fluid change is at 60k and then every 30k afterwards.

Fresh fluids in general can help a little with that notchy feel. But I wouldn't say the GMSM will alleviate it. The only difference I noticed when I switched way back was I stopped having minor third gear issues.

My notchy 3rd gear (sometimes even had to let go of the clutch and reengage to get a proper shift) completely went away with the GM Friction modified. Thats the shit you want.

Exactly the notchy feel is mostly in the 3rd gear.
