GM Synchromesh Fluid Fix....

Y'know I'm typically extremely skeptical about "magic in a bottle" fixes, but my 3rd gear crunchiness was getting more irritating as time went on.

After reading about the magic of the GM fluid, I said to myself, "What the hell, give it a shot...it's a relatively inexpensive possible fix. Not everyone who raves about it on the forums can be wrong....right?"

So I went out and bought 3 litres of the stuff (@ $18 CAD per litre), drained the old, put in 2.3 litres of the new, went for a quick spin...not expecting much of a difference. Well, I have to say that I'm pleasantly surprised....nay, shocked at the difference! The shifting seems more fluid, smooth....no more 3rd gear notchiness, same goes for the other gears! Frankly, I'm amazed.

So for all those skeptics out there....I was one of you, give this fix a shot! It works!

Another case, another fix: GMSMTF-FM FTW! (100% success rate, as far as I know)

Huh?

It only holds 2.5 litres......not quarts, remember we're metric up here.

I'm saying to repeat the process 2 more times. That way, you can eliminate all of the old Acura fluid.

Ah...gotcha!

I'll run it for awhile and maybe perform another flush/refill. I doubt that the little, if any, Acura fluid that's in there mixing with the GM will have a detrimental effect.

Again, I'm just amazed that there's such a dramatic difference!

I'm a believer. It's like a new gearbox in a bottle. Or a new gearbox in three bottles I guess.

I had the same problem in my 5th gen prelude, it had a 5th gear grind which was common on those cars. I drained the fluid and put in the synchromesh and it cured it. it came back after a while and I just did the same flush and fill and it fixed it again.
