Fuel Gauge reading on opposite side.
Hi guys
I've been trying to look around but couldn't find anything on this kind of situation and was hoping someone could shed some light on my current problem. Currently my Fuel Gauge sits on the opposite side of the 1/2 tank mark. When I turn on the car it turns clockwise until it sits facing straight down. Does anyone know what the problem could be? Is it the fuel sending unit? Here are some photos of how it looks.

Could be the gauge cluster, but could also be the fuel sending unit. There should be an ohm test procedure in the manual to check the resistance values of the sending unit with the float at different positions (E, 1/2, F), which is what I would do first before condemning the cluster.

I doubt it is the sending unit, since if something would be wrong with it gauge cluster most likely would just report empty. There is a controller between needle and sending unit. Maybe the potentiometer inside the stepper failed?
Do a sweep test. If needle moved out of range there, then you can be sure cluster failed.

If that works fine, then check the sending unit.

Alright sorry it took a while but I'm finally able to give you guys an update. Sooooo basically my fuel gauge fixed itself. I'm assuming the sending unit was stuck in the gas tank in a position past full but once I filled my tank back up again it slowly fixed itself while my car was running and also while it was sitting in my driveway.
