Fuel Gauge doesn't work
So we were driving, and our car suddenly stopped working. Apparently we ran out of fuel. The gauge, however, showed that we still had some fuel left. What could the problem be?
Thanks for any help.

Are you sure it's the gauge and not, say, a bad fuel pump? Unless you've since re-filled and are driving fine, in which case disregard.
Unfortunately there are a number of things that can affect the operation of the gauge. Common ones could be a bad fuse or a stuck float. If the needle moves when you start/stop your car, the fuse should be fine. If the gauge is stuck somewhere in the middle when you know there is more or less gas in there, then you may want to look into the float or the sending unit of the tank. Could even be the gauge cluster itself, although I think that's extremely rare.
