Engine Oil Question

In trying to seek justice for a previous issue that some of you may remember me from in February, I'm wondering what GF-4 oil is?

I understand a TL requires a synthetic oil- is GF-4 a synthetic oil?

Thank you!

It's an oil standard set by the International Lubricant Standardization and Approval Committee (ILSAC). Google "GF-4 oil". I believe it requires oils to meet a certain fuel economy requirement among other improvements vice the previous/older GF-3 standard.

Started in Aug 2004. GF-5 becomes effective in Sep 2011.

TL does not require synthetic and stay away from anything that has "fuel economy" on the label or in the literature. Use any good 5w-30 and you'll be fine. AFE oils trade wear for an immeasurable mpg improvement.
