I have an 05' with 16K miles thats making a winding noise when car sets out in sun for long time. Any one heard of this? I'm taking it to the dealership again because they say it mormal. I'm turning heads for the wrong reasons driving my TL .

 

Maybe the electric radiator fan?

 

Are you saying that this noise happens during your drive or after you have parked the car and the fans are making noise? What is the length of time?

FYI: There are two fans, the condensor fan motor and the radiator fan motor on the radiator.

 

It's more like a rattle from the engine belts or pulleys

 

My car made a high pitch sound between 1,200 – 1,800 rpms while in neutral with a cold engine.

Take your car to the dealership and have them check the Drive Belt Tensioner to see if it needs to be replaced.

On my car, the dealership replaced my drive belt at 12,000 miles saying the belt was worn. The high pitch sound is much less. Now I hear a slight high pitch sound in a very tight rpm range of 1,100 – 1,300 rpms while in neutral with cold engine.

If the sound returns, I will make them aware that they already replaced the drive belt and they should try replacing the drive belt tensioner.

Please report back what they found on your car.

 

That sounds more like it.. I'll post a report when every thing is fixed.. Thanks for the info!

 

Any update, please? My car has these same symptoms at 63K.

 

I have the same high pitch sound. Today I got my car back from the dealership, they replaced the belt tensioner but the sound is still there. Any updates?
