Engine getting louder around 100k miles?

The 3G TL is at 96K and I hear noise from the engine compartment that was not present when the car was newer with less mileage. It's faint, but still annoying.

I recently did the timing belt service which also replaced the water pump. Tomorrow, I am getting the valves adjusted and spark plugs replaced. Transmission fluid is also being replaced (3x drain/refill).

Is there any other service item I could do to lessen the amount of noise?
I understand without hearing the noise you guys don't really have much to go on. It just sounds like the engine is louder than before.

p.s I am aware I posted in the car talk forum and not the 3g tl forum.

Sounds like you're due for a valve job. Once it's done see if that fixes it.

Not sure if the 3rd gen has a purge control solenoid, but it tends to tick when it gets up in age. Nothing to worry about, it just gets noisy. Sounds like valve tick.

My car sounded like it has had valve tick since the day I bought it. Lately I've noticed it has been running very smooth though. At a stop light, the car will idle perfectly and I immediately look at my RPM's expecting the car to be shut off.

The car has 70k+ miles and on it's second automatic transmission. Acceleration is a different story (car makes a rattling noise from a dig, bad axle?) and after a cold night the power steering pump whines like a mo-fo until it warms up.

You know a $0.10 new o-ring fixes the power steering pump noise, right?

Based on the lack of replies here, I'm going to shuffle this over to the TL forum to see if you can get more answers there from other TL owners...

Please update on if the valve job fixed the note issues. Your pm's are turned off so I couldn't ask you directly unfortunately.

Check for exhaust leaks? I know I've seen people with cracked J pipes on here or the flex part is leaking a little.
