DRL problems?
does anyone have any DRL problems such as... how i cant turn it on by itself...? its got its own twist switch next to my headlights, however i notice alot of people are able to turn it on without the need to have the headlights on. they will only turn on when the headlights are on... not even the parking lights will allow the DRL to come on. any help and/or suggestions is appreciated.

You talking about the Daytime Running Lights? Or the fog lights?
As far as I know the DRLs don't have an on / off switch, they come on when you start the car. And can only be off with the car running IF the park brake was set before the car was started.

Turn the fog lights on and off by
turning the switch next to the
headlight switch.
You can use the fog lights only when
the headlights are on low beam.
U.S. models only
Fog Lights, Instrument Panel Brightness
Correct me if I am wrong but I don't think the DRL have a control .. the manual doesn't mention one.

but definitely that switch on the stalk is the OEM foglight switch. on your particular model (2006, like mine), the foglights are "in-line" with the low beams. to the average person, when you have them lit, they think you have your highbeams on.

im guessing you bought that car used, and the previous owner may have done a mod to turn those on using that alternate "fog" switch.

im not sure how the wiring was probably done on that car. i have 0 knowledge on electrical wiring, so its anybody's guess how that was wired.
i believe the ones you see here on acurazine that have these fogs "on" independent of the low beams/parklights have the "foglight mod" (as its called). basically, the wiring for the fogs are intercepted/spliced somewhere under the hood and onto a separate switch. i personally would like to do it myself but i just dont have the courage nor the knowledge.

the fogs only come on when the low beams are on, they can't be switched on without them. when you switch to high beam the fogs will cut off and the highs will come on. The newer models starting in 07? (correct me if i am wrong) have the fogs in the lower front bumper.

On my 04 Tl it did the same and from what i read on this site the 04-06 TL have fog lights on the actual headlights and not down on the bumper. And the fogs would only come on with the headlights on. But i did this mod (https://acurazine.com/forums/3g-tl-2004-2008-93/diy-installation-daytime-running-lights%2A%2A-detailed-pictures%2A%2A-3g-garage-g-067-a-596398/) and now i have DRLS on a separte switch. hope this helps
