Driver window doesn't move

Hi guys, I just bought my 07 TL-S a few weeks ago and its been problem free up until today. I tried rolling the drivers window down and it doesnt move at all, yesterday and last night it worked just fine. I can hear a click from the switch and I checked the pw/dr fuse under the dash and the main fuse in the engine bay and both were fine. Its been sitting in direct sunlight all day and maybe a wire melted or something i dont know? (i live in washington state, it doesnt usually get very hot here) or the motor is shot? Any advice? Or is there a way i can test the motor? Thanks

I just recently started having this same problem with my passenger front window on my 2005 TL. Fuse is good, hear a clicking sound when I try to lower the window using the driver master switch and the passenger door window switch. It seems like power is getting to the window motor because I can hear a difference in the sounds the car makes while I'm pressing the window switch. Is there an easy way to test the window regulator/motor to make sure it is working or not?

If it lost it's programming wouldn't it still at least go down or up while not using the auto feature. My window doesn't move at all.

Well, I've had some cars that need reprogramming after an accident (here at the shop), and holding the switch down for a while kickstarts them again. Maybe they're just rare occurences but it's happened.

Other than that, maybe something wrong with your regulator?

I'll give it a shot, you'll never know unless you try it.

I kinda figured that wasn't it, I guess I'll have to take the door panel off to check.
Anyone know a procedure for checking the window motor/regulator?

Try taking the panel off and making sure there are no kinks in the cables or anything stopping the regulator from moving.

Maybe use the remote to pop down all of the windows and then try and see if it goes up. If nothing still than I would take off the panel and check and clean everything including the motor

^ i like that idea. Why didn't i think of that? lol.

OP, in case you don't understand what he meant, we are supposed to be able to open all our windows from our Keyless remote, press the unlock button twice and hold it down, the sunroof and all 4 windows should roll down. at least this way you can cross the regulator/motor off your list if it works.

Thanks, but it didnt even work when I tried the remote function. I took the door panel off and checked all the wiring, everything was fine nothing out of place or kinked so I gave up because I had to go to work. I think it was the programming issue like previously stated because it stared working the next day (sorry for the late reply). I used to have a similar issue with my 03 TL where if the battery was disconnected or died the auto down function wouldnt work for some time but would always return to normal a few hours later. Im pretty sure my car hasnt had any accidents in its lifetime (clean carfax). Is this one-time problem (so far) something I should be worried about?

So you didn't find anything wrong or loose when you took the door panel off? Then it started working again by itself? Was your issue only with the auto function or did it not move at all. Mine won't work at all but I get the same clicking sound you were getting when I used any of the switches. I also already had tried the remote function, all windows but the passenger front go down. I still haven't taken the door panel off yet, will probably do that this weekend so any info on how to test motor/regulator would be helpful.

Maybe try using the motor from the passenger side on the drivers side (provided the connections are the same); a bit time consuming, but it'll help isolate the problem.

I vote back to my programming guess. Plus, these cars are prone to multiplex issues already. Try a battery D&C for a couple of hours and see what happens.

I just faced the same problem today especially in NYC its 97 Degrees outside. It initially happened to me last month when there was a heat wave, The passenger window did not go down. I was pissed cuz i just got the car. It was really hot outside. I could hear the click and then nothing would move. I tried over and over again nothing. Then as I was leaving work in the late afternoon, I started the car, I let it cool down inside, I tried for the sake of it to roll it down again, WOW, it went down and back up again. Till today another heat wave and the passenger window did not go down, Imma wait till later for the temp to cool down when i leave work and try it again. This is annoying why doesnt it happen to the other 3 windows? I thought it was the regulators. I am pretty sure the heat has something to do with it. Hopefully yall can help me as well.

So I went back to the car in the afternoon and no luck the window would not go down, I left the car over night parked, then I came back to it in the morning to go to work, Wala the window went down. I kept toggeling it back and forth and it works normally. I will check again in the peak of the heat to see if the window goes down normally. This is very bizzare.

Does disconnecting the battery for a couple hours reset the programming of the windows or does that have to do with the multiplex issues?

I have this same exact problem. My passanger window is stuck closed. Any attempt to roll it down is met with a click and no action. It hasn't worked in well over a year (at least). Prior to that, it became stuck, then one day it worked, then another day it stopped. Better to be stuck in the up position than in the down position I guess. I've had the dorr panel off more times than I care to remember, and I couldn't see any issues. I tapped on the motor with a screw driver handle, tried to "help" it roll down by having my son operate the switch while I try to push down the window - nothing. I have about five things on my TL that need to be addressed, but just haven't had the time to do it or take it in (I dread going to the dealer due to the cost (and yes, I am pretty handy but some things are beyond me (due to time and lack of tools))).

What is this "muliplex issues" to which you (Project_CLean) refer? I've subscribed to the thread to hopefully get some information.

Still no luck, any other troubleshooting ideas?

Also, can I test the window motor with a battery and if so what pins in the connector would I check it with?

I had the same problem with my 08 TL - the driver's window would not budge. I took it to the dealer and they replaced the window regulator under warranty.

Same issue

It’s 2025. I still got my 07 TL 178K this keeps happening with the weather changes. It’s may is hot here in Texas. I used the remote to put all the windows down and happened again, with my drivers window. Now today it’s in the 70s and it’s working again. I was thinking it’s the regulator, but it’s most likely the master switch.
