Hi all, I tried searching for this in the threads for some time but I was only able to find discussions related to seats wearing out. Maybe I didn't look hard enough.
I have a 2007 Acura TL Type-S with 213,XXX kms on it, mechanically sound. Exterior is a bit rough though, but that's fine. Lately, I've been getting annoyed about the stitched leather insert on the doors; they have started peeling out of the panel they fit into. I've attached pictures.
Obviously tucking then back in is only a temporary solution as eventually they loosen up again. Is there an effective way to fix this? Can I just super glue it back in or something, as crude as that sounds?
Many people have experienced this issue, including myself. You can just peel back the leather a little bit and put a few dabs of super glue behind the leather and re-tuck. Or if you want to, you can remove the entire piece and spray the area with 3m adhesive, but it might be more work than you actually need to do.
I recommend removing the door panel and laying it flat to avoid excess dripping of any glue on your panel.

Thanks for your insight! I think I'm gonna try the super glue first and see how that holds up before digging deeper into removing the door panel. It isn't super annoying, but it definitely looks odd.
I used Scotch Super 77 spray adhesive. I had 2 doors that were peeling. Mask off the areas if you're spraying it so you don't get the adhesive on anything else than the underside of the leather. You can also use a pop sickle stick and spray the adhesive on that and then paint it on the backside of the leather. Doesn't take much.
The super 77 tacks really really well and quickly and personally has held up through the Texas summer so far. 10/10 would recommend.
I just squirted some Elmers down in the crack of mine.. And using coins to hold it until it dries... I will wait till tomorrow to remove and see if it holds. I dont know if I got enough glue in there... but I can add more if it works.
