Do you have this happening?
Hey there TLers.....
I have a 04 TL and after 15 months of driving, I have noticed that the outline of the passenger airbag is now visible through the dash.
My dealer is looking into this with Acura Canada. The dealer also says that they have two other TLs that also have this fading occur.
Anyone else having this happening to them?
Thanks
Demellie

I had this happen during the first year of ownership. First the airbag compartment started to show through, then the whole dash became kind of whitish (looked like some kind of white plastic residue).
At that time someone suggected 303 "Aerospace protectant" to me. I put that on all of my dash, and have not had any problems since. My car is almost 2 years old now. You can buy this "303 Aerospace Protectant" at almost any Ace Hardware store. I highly recommend it.

BTW, it does NOT make the surface shiny.

Here you are boys and girls. Almost everything has happened to somebody in the past 18/24 months. It's about all here somewhere.

Not a Blowhole
It is obviously the passenger side SRS - the vinyl nees to be thin enough to allow proper deployment. Honda spec'd the solution they did, and voila - there can be a slight outline on the dash.
First, a through cleaning with a mild soapy water solution is a must. Applying a vinyl treatment over any dirt is a no-no. Doing so can lead to the sort of porblems with dry rot and tire sideall damage that peeps have had with ArmorAll (or GreasyBall as I like to call it).
I like 303 as well.
As to replacing it - this is such a minor cosmetic issue, that I think it is a bit over the top to ask the mfr to go to the tremendous expense of "correcting it". I would also suggest that the fix is unliklely to be a fix, since there is liekly nothing wrong in the first place. "Repairs" of tweak problems drives up the cost to all of us in the long run - by comparison, even the butt rpint issue seems significant by comparison.

yep - I weighed that decision and went with - I could live with the dash as is - at least it is quiet and my interior is not scratched, stained etc. Asking for trouble if that was replaced I bet.

the 05 loaner i have right now has 12k miles on it and you can see the entire outline of the passenger deployment area.
i considered getting a cover for wifey's... then it dawned on me that i would be a dumbass to cover the airbag deployment area....
oh well

I have an 04 and have the same problem. It went away for almost a year after I cleaned the dash and applied 303 Aerospace. I guess it's time for another treatment.

Ok, this just happened yesterday while driving on the highway. I was passing slower traffic and using SS (I have a auto) to down shift and pass. I usually double down shift from 5the to 3rd to gain speed, then shift into 4th to complete the pass.
On the fourth pass I made passing 3 semi tractor trailers my engine malfunction light started flashing. Needless to say panic set in, I shifted into 5th, lost speed and I moved in between the 1st and 2nd trucks all while the malfunction light was flashing away.
I called my service department from the car to ask why this happened and to set up another appointment to have this car checked out.
Have any of you had this happen? When I passed again this time letting the computer do the shifting no light came on.

The airbag outline has bothered me since I first got the car. I also have three depressions above the air bag and some other deformataions around it. Very annoying. i have been tempted to get the dealer to replace the dash but have not figured out which is worse, the deformations on the dash or the consequences that come with replacing such a large, intricate unit.
There are many folks with this problem. I have also tried various dash treatments, 303, vinylex, nxt, all to no avail.
Keep us posted with what your dealer says. I took it to one dealer who said he would replace the dash but did not recommened it. Another said he had never heard of the problem and mine was the first he saw. I did not believe him, given it is a known issue with Acura.

TL 2012 SH-AWD TECH/UMBER
Acura put a product on my dash, it appears like new but it's very shinny.
I think it's a very concentrated armor all kind of product.
The other option Acura think is to use q dyeing product to hide the air bag delimitation and to restore a uniform color on dash. Not sure if i want to have it done.

i have an 04 with 30,000 miles and saw this airbag outline mark on my dash for about 6 months. I think a reason for this is that the car is baking in the sun without any protection of visor or wiindow shades, duno?

Dashboard Looks Faded or Blotchy
You may want to view the article from Acura December 2005 ServiceNews called Dashboard Looks Faded or Blotchy on page two and see if the procedures the dealership would perform would help in the case of the passenger airbag outline showing.
