DIY: Cabin Filter Replacement - 3G Garage #F-130

Hey folks... you may be more aware of this than me. I've never changed a cabin filter on any vehicle. I'm 27. I have a new respect. My TL has 89k on it and this is what happened this am with my cabin filter change.

First drop the glove box down then push in the tabs on the side.
Disconnect the black control arm on the right side of the glove box.
Let the glove box hang down vertical and unscrew the two phillips screws holding it on.
Unscrew the hex screws now visible on back of the glove compartment.

There are two push-tab-pins at the top of this compartment area. Push the center in, then remove the tab.

Review how the tabs in the picture so you pull the compartment straight back/slightly down. (Do one side at a time or you may break tabs)
Disconnect the two electrical connectors

Locate the cabin filter slide and push in outside tabs and pull to rear of car.

Replcace filter making not of direction of air flow (down)
DONE

I appreciate the effort but you really didn't need to do this.

Haha....didn't know it was there. I've gotten so much info from this site...I felt like I'd contribute whatever "little" info I could! There should be a special DIY section! (or is there)

I'm about to head down to Lordco to pick up a FRAM Freshbreeze. I'm surprised that none of the DIY threads go into disinfecting or de-moulding the HVAC intakes. Are they on the underside of the hood, under the windshield? If that's the case, how do you get to them and what do you use? Lysol? Febreeze?

Or is this even a consideration?

Old thread but the only how-to with working pictures.

Is the 07-08 TL-S any different? Seems like the bottom piece that is supposed to snap off is different?

Did it. I just had to pull that bottom piece a bit harder. I did end up breaking 2 tabs though. Here is one I broke:

Filter was gross, need to get a picture of it. But it wasn't obscenely bad. Job took 10-15 minutes. Could cut that time in half next time. Not hard at all really, just the tab thing is a pain. Put it all back together and drove a good distance. Even with those broken tabs there is no noise/rattle
