The Batteries in the Tl are prone to dieing quickly if not turned on constantly or if they are left in the heat for a 5+ day period. All the electronics draw a slight charge from the battery when off to keep settings such as phonebook, memory seats, navi stuff, radio stuff and other things. What happens is that over time the batter slowly discharges to a point where the battery does not have the needed 550 cold crank amps to start. Hopefully this can provide some insight.

If you feel that it not this, then go to acura and tell them to check the HFL module for excessive draw. Excessive draw can occur from a bad HFL unit.

Agree. Some (careless) aftermarket accessories are really bad about this. Does the car have anything aftermarket wired into the electrical system ?

Does the temp display read ---?
There are other posts on this site about that causing the battery to drain quickly.
Check the 3G garage.

Thumbs up

no remote starter. i previously had the --- happen. The dealer said he fixed it but only did a power cycle/disconnect the power.

When I went to the dealer they said they were going to charge me for half the battery since i was beyond the 2 years (i was actually 2 years 2mos) I made a big fuss and he said he's call the district manager to see what he could do. A couple hours later the guy called and said it turns out the battery was still covered. They fixed the car in two hours and everything was good Thanks everyone for the help.

Tell the dealer to check the HandFreeLink unit for an extra draw when the car is off. A faulty one can draw alot of power and drain the battery.

My '04 battery has gone dead several times after not driving the car for several weeks. I had it back to the dealer several times and they said the battery tested OK. I think this car just has too much current draw from all the electronics, and not anything defective. I just put a battery charger on the car at least once a week if I'm not driving it. Good luck if you need to park it at the airport parking lot for a 2 week vacation.....better pack good jumper cables and find a helpfull stranger willing to give you a jump start. Poor design on Acura's part. My '94 Honda can sit for weeks without the battery dying.
