Dead Battery after 8 months
Dead Battery after 8 months
My car died back in November and acura prorated a new battery for me at a pretty hefty price. I took my car in for the recalls this morning and they call me to to tell me my car won't start. They think its the battery. After less than 8 months with a brand new acura battery! Because they prorated the battery in november, i'd have to buy a new battery at full price. I'd be alot more understanding if i had to pay full price after a couple of years but it hasn't even been a year.
Has anyone else had to replace the acura battery within this short amount of time? Should i try to get acura to replace the battery for free?

What year is the car?
Acura batteries are crapola. If they will not replace battery for free, dont spend your money on their battery. There are many options but I live by interstate batteries. They are reasonably priced and all of mine have lasted at least 5 years.

04-6spd
an 04 should just be getting its 1st replacement battery- 3 - 4 years is the lifespan
A battery you paid a large part of should have at least 12 month full warranty
Did you speak with a service writer??? or the service MANAGER- and remind them you bought the current battery from them not long ago
Sometimes no one looks up the history of a car to see that you replaced it- and assume its a first time battery replacement and you will just go along with the program!
Communication between the service writer and the tech is not always accurate.
Tech says wont start- needs battery- writer goes into computer to get a price and calls you without knowing the full story
Its a defect part- they should honor it 100 percent
If they wont, go anywhere!!! else and buy a battery
They THINK its a battery- they either jumped it and ran a test or they didnt!
Maybe they left a door open!!

Yah OEM Acura batteries are pretty crap, well almost all OEM batteries are.
Many of them will have unexpectedly short life spans, you should definitely go ask for a replacement free of charge.
I know batteries bought at any battery specialist have at least a 3 year free replacement warranty.

dealer is full of shit. Ask to speak with the regional rep. Tell him there are known problems with acura batteries and that the warranty is for the replacement battery and not the original, only makes sense as the original battery is not in the car.

the warranty on batteries is from the time of the replacement. If you still have your invoice for the battery change, I would present it to the SM to show that you did buy a new acura battery, and the warranty for this new battery should replace it for free.
