Unhappy Creaking when braking, accelerating, help!

My 05 TL makes a creaking noise when coming to a stop and when accelerating away. It sounds like it's coming from under the passenger front floor. I can also hear it slightly when I accelerate from a coast (sounds like a clunk or rattle.) It does not make the noise when I come to a stop and shift into neutral before stopping; however, when I put the car in drive I hear the creaking noise before the car even moves.

I've taken the car to the dealer, but so far they haven't found it. They thought it was brake related, but that doesn't seem to be the case.

Since I've owned the car I've found the fix for every trouble I've had in this forum, but I couldn't find anyone who posted this problem. Any ideas?

This happened to me. The dealer tried lubing the suspension parts, and it helped. It might work for you.

Doesn't seem to be affected by speed bumps, etc, just stop/start. Maybe someone else had this problem.......... No vibration, rough idle, etc.

I have this same issue but I haven't tried shifting into neutral before stopping.

The dealer hasn't been able to replicate the noise.

It's back at the dealer today, I ask them to look at some of the things suggested. I hope they can find it.

Any resolution? My 2005 TL has been doing the same thing - creaking when I stop and then again when I start accelerating (all slow speeds). Sounds like it is coming from front passenger wheel, but I can't tell for sure. Mechanic hears it too, can't figure out what is doing it.

My dealer said there was nothing wrong with my brakes or suspension components. I hope it's not the motor mounts. Does your car make the noise when you turn? Mine is only during braking and accelerating in a straight line.

I wonder if it could be something behind the dash? I did cut a hole so I could replace the cabin filter easier.

Cliffs - 1) Lubed suspension parts - noise went away for a little bit. 2) Loosened a clamp for the front swaybar - noise came back a day later. 3) Turns out subframe was tweaked. Replaced under warranty.

Thanks for the link. Hopefully it's not a bent subfram as I'm out of warranty.

I think my dealer fixed the problem. I got the car back on Wednesday and so far, so good. I'm not sure of the exact details on the fix, although my dealer said he'd never seen this problem it is a "known" problem that Acura is aware of. They did work closely with Acura's technical support. Apparently Acura is working on a service bulletin for it and I believe if my car is fixed they will move forward to issue it.
I was told the problem was related to the brake backing plates. They removed them off the car for me to test, but after driving for a while I heard the creaking again. I returned it to the dealer and they continued to troubleshoot. They did install modified backing plates but ultimately I'm not sure this was the fix. They also replaced the engine side mount and changed the torque specs for a large number of bolts. I'm told I'll recieve a full report on all that was done once the SB is complete.

Oh, also they said the noise traveled from the front left front backing plate through the sway bar making it sound as if it was coming from under the passenger floor.

Thanks for the info. How many miles do you have on your car? The temp dropped 20 degrees to 60 yesterday and the noise went away. It may just be another noise I have to live with.

I've got 47k. Mine would't always do it right away, but always after 20 minutes or so. It wasn't over bumps, straight line stop and acceleration. Mostly just before stopping and just after starting. Creak...drove me nuts! Put another 100 miles on it today, still haven't heard it again.

Grrrrrr. Having this same brief creaking noise issue coming from my drivers side front. I dont hear it at night when coming home from work after the car has been sitting for 7 hours but first thing in the morning when leaving the house to go to work it starts occuring immediately when coming to a stop at < 2mph or accelerating from a stop up until 2mph. It seems after ive driven a few miles the noise dissapears until the next morning. There is no abnormal noise heard when turning or hitting bumps in the road. HELLLLP!

Hello, StevesTL. I was lucky enough to find this thread because I have the exact same problem with my 06 Acura TL with 54K miles. Can you provide the fix for this problem? I am planning on taking my car to a dealer soon so if I can provide the tech with the fix or at least the narrow down the problematic areas, he will really appreciate it. Thanks a bunch.

Has anyone gotten a resolution to this problem?

My '05 w/ 50k miles has the exact same symptoms. Motor mounts and suspension were examined by a Honda dealer and they said all was well.

My car just started having a same noise when accelerating from a stop too. I have a 07 TL-S with 75k miles. I found this thread: https://acurazine.com/forums/3g-tl-problems-fixes-114/acceleration-click-noise-video-793458/. Possible axle nut issue? I haven't had a chance to get it checked out though.
