Comptech exhaust bursting at the seems (literally)
Fire up my car after work. Sounds like a diesel truck..hmmm...open the door, look under car while sitting in my seat (I'm pretty limber
)

At first I thought, ok...how did that slip off, but nope. Broken. LOL!
On top of that, this:

The whole bottom half of the can weld separated and is smiling at me![Why Me](https://acurazine.com/forums/images/smilies/whyme.gif)
Is this common? I'm not an expert. The exhaust was on the car before I bought it (for how long, I don't know, but it can't be more than 8 years old, and I suspect it's much newer than that).
I've never had an exhaust fall apart on me like this and we have nearly 20 year old cars with over 260k miles on them! lol!
I'm going to call around to price out a fix (at least for the straight/y pipe. Maybe not the can) But does anyone know what I might be looking at $$$?
And I know a full exhaust replacement would be a lot more expensive, but if this is not common of Comptech, could it maybe be a dud exhaust and I'm better off starting over?
Thanks for any info!
Justin

Ha! I'm curious to know the outcome of this. You may be entitled to a free replacement from Comptech, since this seems to be a manufacturing defect, possibly. In for the updates.

The only time I've seen that happen is with a severe backfire and the muffler unravels. For the money you guys spend on exhaust I would expect a free muffler as long as there are no signs of abuse such as scratches and dents.

I can't see crap from this phone but if it broke the flange for the v band and pulled the flange out of the muffler you might want to start looking for binding.

update: got the straight pipe re welded for 30 bucks.
I was not the original purchaser of the exhaust and have no receipts for it or it's install so I figured I would have no luck with comptech. Would you suggest I contact them anyway? I have never heard it missfire and I don't abuse it.
Thoughts..?
