Clicking/scraping sound

I have a clicking/scraping sound coming from the front passenger wheel only when I'm turning left. Any ideas?

Have you visually inspected around each of the front wheels? My first guess is that a plastic body panel in the wheel well area has come loose and rubbing against the tire during turns.

I just did a visual inspection and nothing appears out of place. I should note that I am using snow tires mounted on wheels from a 2003 CL-S. This is the second season I have used them and haven't noticed this noise until now. It's also 4 degrees here, so maybe that has something to do with it.

Classic CV joint going bad. You need a new axle.

That's just great considering the car only has 45K miles. How much does that typically cost?

Good suggestion IHC

I thought maybe cv joints too. I didn't mention it because of the "scraping" description. That is why I suggested maybe something scrubbing against the tire

I ignored the scraping part and picked the easier one lol.

To the OP, is it worse when you give it a little gas while turning?

Yes, worse than if I'm coasting through the turn. 46k seems a little early for a CV joint to go. Would the non-oem wheels be a cause? How about the sub-zero temps? Could the grease be hardened? I'm not sure when it's going to warm up though.

Sounds like a wheel bearing going out. When going straight it will make noise, but on turn it will make even louder scratching noise. Of couse subzero temps will make parts go out earlier. But it could also be an axle.

46k does seem somewhat early, but it really depends on how you drive the car. CV joints don't like hard acceleration while going through corners and also hard launches. Did you check if the boot was split? Look for grease splater, but also boot doesn't have to be split for the joint to be bad.

Do you feel any vibration? To check to make sure you your hub/wheel bearing is ok jack the car up, grab the wheel/tire with both hands and see if there is any play. If there is the bearing is bad.

Is it a constant click and scrap? does the intervals rise and fall with speed? If you go over a bump(s) do you hear any clicking/scrapping? <--- this would be a suspension issue.

I don't drive the car hard. The boot looks fine and don't notice any vibration. I only hear it when I turn and it sounds like, click, click, click. More pronounced sound if I am giving it gas while turning. I also don't hear anything when going over bumbs.

Axle. Click, Click, Click is definitely an Axle. But doe it do it all the time, or only on cold start?

It does seem to be louder when I leave for work in the morning or when I drive home at night. It has been so cold here lately, I'm hoping it will go away when it warms up. But I don't remember it happening last year. Is this something I need to get fixed right away or can I wait?

I had this same problem. My 2005 had 38K when it started and was within a month or two of having the in service date for the warranty expire. I took it to the dealer and they tried to duplicate the clinking sound that was happening at the front wheels when turning to the right. I guessing the CV joint was going. Finally when the techs at the local Acura dealer were able to minic the noise they determined that this was the CV Axle on this model and I had it goodwill replaced by the Acura local area rep. Since then I have heard this is a problem with this generation TL. I would check with the dealer and see if a bulletin has been put out. They may replace the axle depending on your miles on the car and or in service date on the vehicle. Good Luck

Well it's warmed up about 20 degrees here and the noise is not as pronounced and completely goes away after 5 minutes of driving. I'm going to chalk this up to sub-zero temps affecting the grease. Not sure why it only affects the right side though.
