Low MPG on 2006 TL with auto
Hi all! I just bought 2006 TL with 40k miles and auto transmission. I spent one tank, and decided to see the mpg with my normal driving (no heavy foot).
I got the following: half tank - 145 miles. When I filled up the thank, I put 7.5 gallon. Do simple math here:
145 miles / 7.5g = ~19.3. I am driving 50/50 highway/city.
Please tell if this mpg is ok or something is wrong. May be I should change filters?
p.s. I can say I am noob in car fixes but I am planing to do simple maintenance by my own.
Update: my tire pressure is like: front: 34 : 34, and rear: 30 : 30.
Thanks!

I will check mpg again and try to clear injector and change airfilter.
Certainly don't want to start a war, but IMHO don't waste your money and time as the cleaning will not improve fuel mileage, and a new air filter will offer no gain in mileage if diry, but only a performance increase if dirty. Naturally any doubt, change the filter. It doesn't need to be 25 degrees like today, but any cold start, if the car sits outside, will cause the mixture to be rich.
I have a 2006 auto with 105K miles. I get consistently 21 mpg according to the trip computer in my normal day to day driving. On the highway, I have gotten as high as 32 mpg.
How does that compare with other folks?

Sorry, but on our cars, you'll see no better performance or improvement in fuel mileage by changing the plugs, unless one is miss-firing. With the computer controlled devices, the engine operates at the optimum F/A ratio and by running seafoam through the engine or replaceing the plugs, it won't change the ratio at all.
you guys are correct about the winter performance but it is mainly because of the additives that they place in gasoline during the winter. correct me if i am wrong but i think they increase the percentage of ethanol in the gasoline to prevent fuel from lackering in the winter time. additives=bad mpg.
i have been driving my car in a behaved manner and been getting 28.8mpg. thats less that shifting before 3k in the city and 65mph on the highway to work.
checkout the navi hacks to "unlock" the trip computer app (if you have navi) to see real time mpg

Turbonut is right on every point.
Don't seafoam a 40,000 mile car. If you use a top tier gas for it's entire life you likely will never have to do a fuel system cleaning. With computer controls and today's gasoline, fuel system cleaning and cylinder decarbonization rarely have to be performed.
Airfilter makes no difference in mpg, only power and that's only if it's real dirty.
I wish mine got 19mpg in city driving. Your car is fine, that's just what they get. You're pushing a 3,500lb car around, not much you can do about that.
"Winter" gas always gives lower mileage.
Do a search for a thread started by me and you'll see mpg directly follows average mph. With a super low average speed due to the completely retarded redlight timing around here mine is lucky to get 14mpg but that's right in line with others with such a low average mph.

I was just getting annoyed today about my mileage. My 06 GS300 gives me about 30 mpg city/highway combined. I'm getting 19-20 in the TL. I have used BP and Chevron for the entire life of the car.... and I'm running a CAI so no change needed there as its new. Any other things I can do to gain some miles here?

Lexus GS 300/GS 430 6 cyl, 3 L, Automatic (S6), Premium
19 city 27 hwy
V-8 is 16/23.
If it's an 4WD 19/25
So for you to average 30MPG combined city.highway, something is wrong.
