Chirping, bird like sound from driver side engine bay

I'm looking for some advice on this one. I've recently noticed a faint chirping sound coming from my engine bay. I'm only hearing it on the driver's side of the bay so I'm not concerned with it being the timing belt issue. The odd thing about it is that it's intermittent and goes away with only slight pressure to full engagement of the clutch pedal. The car is an '04 6MT with 78,xxx miles. I had the trans fluid drained and filled two weeks ago and just noticed this sound two days ago. Any thoughts? I plan on contacting the dealer after the holidays if this persists.

You need to clean those bird nests out from behind the grill! Fo' rizzle!

Seriously tho, sounds like it may perhaps be a clutch bearing going out. I would assume you are running on the original clutch?

I kicked those damn birds out a long time ago...Yeah, I'm still on the original clutch. That's some bad news if that is the case. I'm assuming that would warrant a new clutch assembly? How's that for a christmas present?! Thanks Santa. I knew I could count on you for something special this year.

lol... Well, I don't think it requires an entire new assembly, but since you've got everything taken apart anyways, it would be a little silly to just replace the bearing when the other parts are probably coming close to the end of their lifespan as well. My old Miata had a noisy bearing, but I drove 40k more on it before I sold the car with the original clutch at 120k. You might be able to wait.

My wallet would appreciate it if I waited however I'm worried about letting it go and winding up stuck. I guess I will be calling the dealer and getting it in. Thanks a bunch for your advice on this. With your suggestion of the bearing going out I was able to find a lot more on the subject in the forum.

Mine went out just a few hundred miles of the warranty expired, 49,485. Dealership fixed it and said they replaced it with a more stronger one. With no warranty about 1500 bucks. Glad I caught it in time.
