Check engine light flashes on launch?!?!

My CEL flashes whenever I aggresively launch the car. Anyone have this happen to them or know what the cause could be? Car is an '04 6mt tl.

You sure it is the check engine light and not the traction control warning light? The traction control light is a triangle with an exclamation mark in the middle. Whenever you launch hard with the traction control on and still manage to spin a little the light will flash.

I have an 06 TL and never had this problem. I always turn the VSA off, just makes the car more fun to drive. But with that comes the annoying triangle that wont go away.....

It was most definately not the VSA light. Its the little engine block under the speedo. If I do any kind of aggresive launch where it wheel hops it seems the CEL will flash for like 8 seconds.

No because it doesn't stay on. It flashes for 8 seconds and then goes away.

I have had the same problem on my 04 TL since I bought it and dealer never gets a code. It has happened about 5 times now and all were upon heavy acceleration. It flashes for 8-10 secs and goes away. I don't notice any performance issues

I'd see if there are any Pending/Stored codes. Blinking CEL and you may end up with a damaged CAT.

How many miles do you have? Have you changed the spark plugs?

Most of these cases (MIL while under heavy acceleration) are fixed by a reflash of the PCM. What year is your TL?

^That, but normally a flashing CEL is a severe misfire. But if you're not noticing any performance issues while accelerating, then I would check into what nfnsquared said...

In the cases I'm referring to, the PCM is falsely sensing a misfire due to a software/firmware glitch and the reflash corrects this.

There are 2 or 3 TSBs that cover this, depending on year/model.

Any tsb's for 07 type S? I did a quick WOT run earlier on the freeway onramp like 40-80 ish, and the check engine light flashed for about 10 seconds and stopped. However the car ran perfectly fine.
