06 tl 91,500 miles, check engine light keeps coming on, been to dealer twice. 1st got timming belt, plugs and value adjustment, 2nd time more value adjustment, and blamed on bad gas. happened again, all in 4 days, less than 200 miles, since this started. Is this a major or minor? don't have time to keep running to dealer.

 

IDK if it's minor, major or something in between.

Does the CEL stay on, as opposed to activating intermittently?
Do any other lights (VSA, etc.) also activate?
Are you experiencing any engine roughness or any symptoms other than the CEL light?

If "yes," advise of other symptoms.

If "no" to all, go open your gas cap, then close and tighten it until you hear 3 clicks.
If the CEL doesn't go away after 4-5 ignition cycles, find out if there is a trouble code stored-- go to Autozone, reliable independent mechanic or anyone EXCEPT the dealer that charged you for all the work at this point. Then post the code in this thread if you don't know what it means.

Thanks, No other lights or messages show up, tried the gas cap. All seems to run fine, just the cel is on, haven't really been able to push it over the holiday and traffic, too many patrols in my area. I'll keep trying the gas cap. Did stop going to Acura after warrenty went out. Now take to a small Honda shop I've been going to for 15 years. They seem stumpped by this.

 

Dude, get the codes read. Can't really help you unless we know that. Go to Autozone and they will read them for free and give you a print out.

 

Obviously, the CEL will come on when there is a code.. but will the CEL flash if the code is more serious and you should not continue driving on? I know the GM cars do that, just curious if the TL is the same.
