Center Storage Console

I have an '07 TL Type-S. I just tried to replace the small light bulb inside the center storage console. I put the new bulb in the socket, and the light bulb still does not light up. I tried putting the bulb in both ways, even though I don't believe the OEM bulb is polarized, just to cover my bases.

So this is leading me to believe that maybe a fuse is blown. Does anybody have any idea which fuse I should replace, and where it is located?

Also, if anyone thinks this could be due to another issue, please chime in.

Thanks!

Fuse 6 near the driver side door is Interior Lights.

There's a fuse puller tool in the Under Hood fuse box.

Just occured to me.

Is there anything else not working: Other interior lights, radio, windows, power seats, etc.

If everything else works EXCEPT that little bulb, it could be the bulb, the socket or damage to the wire harness/clip.

I should have clarified in the original post: Yes, all other interior lights ARE working, including the glove compartment light. I know it's not the bulb, as I installed a working bulb into the socket, and it did not light.

I'm hoping that there is no other damage, i.e. to the socket/wiring harness.

Please keep the suggestions coming!

Try turning the headlights on.

It might be linked.

Ron A, I think you're right. Something was nagging me about this and I think you hit the nail right on the head.

i think it is linked.

He's my father.

^^

Oops! Sorry Dave.

Another moment for me.

It was late and I was tired; that's my story and I'm sticking to it.

Still, good call on the headlights/console light.

Dave,

I actually did try it with the headlights on, as the light in the console, and the light in the glove box will only come on with the headlights on, I believe. They also stay on for as long as the headlight is on, even with the lid closed.

I also looked to see if the light in the glove box was working, and it is, so ?

Any other suggestions?

Maybe a visit to your local Acura dealer? Why should you be chasing down some minor electrical gremlin when you bought a car with warranty coverage?

I know, but that's kinda the reason why I don't want to take it in, and then have them possibly keep it overnight, when it really isn't that big a deal...If I haven't figured it out by the time a next major service is needed, I'll let the stealership know.

Have you tried a voltmeter to the socket to make sure it's getting power?

I remember that the wire harness/socket was pretty tight - not much slack - and that made it hard to get the socket in and out of the diffuser.

I'm concerned that you may have damaged the light's wire harness or damaged/dislocated the wiring attached to the socket.

If the wires are good, but the socket is bad I *think* I saw some similar sockets at Radio Shack. You'd have to connect the new socket - don't know it that'd involve soldering or not.

Thought about something else.

The switch. Pretty sure this light goes on when you open the console cover. That means there is a switch somewhere.

If you can find it and get to it, make sure it is not stuck or broken.

Ok, that's not it.

Turns out there is not switch. The Center Console Storage light is ALWAYS on if the Parking lights or Headlights are on.

If you're still working on this, it's back to the socket and/or wire harness.

Thanks, Bear. I've actually been busy lately, and haven't paid attention to this for a while, but, if it is the wiring harness, I think it is too much of a hassle to fix, for something I really don't even need. I'm kinda hesitant to leave it at the dealer for this as well. But, I'll keep you updated as soon as I get around to it!

Issue-RESOLVED!

Hey all, just thought I would let you know that I finally fixed this problem. Today I went to DICE Electronics to get the 1st EVER R4-Silver unit installed in my TL. During the install, I noticed that the fuse to the center storage console light was not plugged in!!

I believe this happened when I had the console taken apart during my short shifter install. The fuse was just forgotten about, and not plugged in!

All this time, and such a simple fundamental answer, who knew?

Anyways, like I stated, the bulb in the center storage console works now, and I do have the aftermarket LED bulb installed. Thanks for everyone's help, especially to you, Bear!
